If I buy a wireless router from BT (which is what broadband I have) can I just plug it in to my desktop like my current one is and it will work? Or do I need to connect the laptop and router up? Will my monthly broadband stay the same or will it go up? I'm very confused, please help.

I'm granted open access to my apartments internet wireless network for my home desktop PC. Up until one week ago, everything connected well and I had no troubles. Now, anytime I try to connect, I'm authenticated, my IP renews as it always has, I'm assigned my DCHP etc, but my connections now hang up at their wireless point, and won't actually pass me through to the World Wide Web. I've tried repairing my connections multiple times over the last week, and my computer seems to be sending it's packets of data to the routers/wireless points, but I'm hardly receiving any data packets back from their wireless point. It stalls out at about 10-14 packets received while my computer continues to transmit data packets.

I've spoken to a friend living in the adjacent building, and she allowed me to try and connect to her network as well but I got almost identical results. Everything gets held up at the wireless point, and won't actually pass me through to the internet.

I'm at a complete loss.

HELP! I have two desktops and one laptop, and I am trying to set up a wireless connection so that all 3 of them can use the internet at the same time. The laptop and one of the desktop have a wireless adapter installed in them. The other desktop needs to be wired directly to the modem. I have a DSL/Broadband connection. They were all working, and then I moved and had to change ISP, and it hasn't worked since then.

Any information (pref. step by step) would be greatly appreciated! :)

THANK

OH, BTW, all 3 system are running Windows XP Service Pack 2.

I just noticed that the font I built my webpages with does not show up on other peoples' computers. It is a specialized font. It looks beautiful on the webpages and I have formatted these pages perfectly with this font style and size.

I want to find a way to display my font and formatting. I think I can save the HTML files as .gifs or .jpgs and load them as images in a new webpage. Actually, I know I can do that. It will just take extra time.

But is it worth it to do that? Or will the formatting be totally screwed up on other peoples' computers if I do that? Even if it looks perfect on mine, the picture might be the wrong size for other peoples' computers. Is that right?

So I should just forget it and live with the fact that nobody except me will be able to see how great the website looks on my own computer.

I have difficulty in locating the most recent BEST ANSWER chosen, whenever I receive notice of it.
Occassionally, it will appear in the say top 5 of the listings board; but more often than not, I have to review all of them, before finally discovering which one is most current, and just posted.

Is their an activation process, in which the last posting will appear at the top of the board, and then all the others in sequence of reception?

Would appreciate any and all suggestions as to how I can solve this problem.

And please don't refer me to the Forum, or the judging panel; I've given up on both, long ago.

Thanks,

Wotan

Linux is HORRIBLE when it comes to setup a wireless connection. It is a real nightmare to make it work. WHY Dell is loading his PCs with linux? Linux is NOT wireless friendly. If I was a Dell shareholder I will sell my shares right away. ANOTHER bad move of Dell. :)

My son spilled green tea (without sugar) on my brand new hp pavillion. I've cleaned all the tea with toilet paper and then blow dried the thing for 1/2 an hour. Previously I took the battery and the sd card without using "safe to remove". The laptop is now, apparently, working in full order but it keeps saying that my sd card is still attached. I "safe remove it" as if it would be there but soon it appears connected again. Do you think this is related with the "unsafe removal" or has my laptop short-circuited? What should I do? Thanks for any help I can get!
