I'm getting a new PC soon and as far as I know it doesn't come with an OS. I've been fine with Windows XP on my old computer but my current system is only an old Athlon and so I will be making the jump to 64-bit dual-core.

The problem is I can't find any stores on the Internet that sell 64-bit versions of Windows XP (I know it exists) and I am unsure about getting Vista due to compatability with games or other programs.

Which OS is better for a new system; Vista or XP, ignoring price as they are similar at the OEM level? And whichever it is, do I have to get the 64-bit version for an AMD Athlon X2 or similar CPU?

Also, I have heard that you need 64-bit if you have a system with more than 2GB ram, is this true?

A friend of mine got a computer cheap from a library for $15, and she can't complain about the hardware, she just wants to use it for writting up papers for her classes. It came with windows 98 second edition, but she has the CDs for windows 2000.

Anyway, she wanted to know why her blank CD-RW was being displayed as full when it was completely empty. It has been a long time since I used windows 98, so I was wondering, are RWs compatible with Windows 98 Second Edition? For now she can use a floppy drive, but soon they will be completely taken out of school and library computers, so she would like to be able to save to a CD.

Is this something with Windows 98, or could it be a hardware issue? When she has the internet connection, I am going to install windows 2000 for her for and get updates.

I have a HP Pavilion a6000n and on the specification, it says, 'NVIDIA GeFoce 6150 SE Graphics with TurboCache with 128MB dedicated graphics memory'. When they say '128MB dedicated graphics memory, do they mean that 128MB of my memory from the RAM stick is all dedicated to my on-board(yes, it is on-board) graphics port? If I buy a seperate NOT on-board video card that is 128MB or 256MB, how much different will that make to my PC's performance?

I am not good with computers.
The game i want to get requires this:
Operating System: Windows XP SP2, Windows Vista
CPU Processor: Intel Pentium D (Dual Core) 2.8GHZ or AMD Athlon 64 3500+
Memory: XP - 1 GB RAM, Vista – 2GB RAM
Hard Disk Space: 5.1 GB + 1GB Swap File
Sound Card: DirectX 9.0c compatible sound card
Video Card: 3D Hardware Accelerator Card Required – 100% DirectX 9.0c compatible 128 MB Video Memory
Video Card (ATI): Radeon X800
Video Card (Nvidia): Geforce 7600
Media Required: 4X DVD-ROM drive
Windows XP/Vista compatible mouse and keyboard with latest drivers

All i know is that my computer has this:
Celeron(R) CPU 2.30GHz
2.29 GHz, 256 MB of RAM
and it is a Windows XP

..i dont know where to find the other stuff
and i have NO IDEA what any of this means.

Just with the little info i gave, can my computer run it so far?

Currently I have a Mac OS X verison 10.3.9 on a 500 MHz PowerPC G3. I want to upgrade to a Mac OS X Leopard, but for that to happen, Leopard requires a computer with an Intel, PowerPC G5, or a PowerPC G4 (867MHz or faster). What the best and least expensive way to get this update? Thank You SO much! Your advice is greatly appreciated!

I am using VB 98

Write a program which will ask the user to enter a sentence. At the click of a “remove first word” button the program will print the first word of the sentence in a picture box and replace the sentence in the input text box with the sentence without the first word. (In this way if the user enters a 5 word sentence and hits the “remove first word” button 5 times, the sentence will be reduced to nothing and 5 words will be printed in the picture box)

Private Sub cmdRemove_Click()
Dim strSentence As String
Dim intSpace As Integer
Dim strFirstPart As String
Dim strSecondPart As String
Dim strExtra As String

strSentence = Trim(txtSentence.Text)

intSpace = InStr(strSentence, " ")
strFirstPart = Left(strSentence, intSpace - 1)
strSecondPart = Mid(strSentence, intSpace)
strExtra = Mid(strSecondPart, Len(intSpace))

txtSentence.Text = strExtra
picOutput.Print (strFirstPart)
End Sub

My code works until the last word...then it crashes

Thanks

I am going to buy Microsoft Office Small Business for my home business. My question is, do I HAVE to install all the programs that come with the suite? I don't need to install Office Publisher, which comes with the suite. It will just take up a lot of roomon my computer. When I install it, can I just unclick Publisher and not install that particular program, but install the others? Thanks.

In March I took my computer in(virus etc) That was when the time changed. We brought it back and it didn't change it. I left it there for a long time. Then I changed it. Now it keeps goin back an hour. It's not even November 4th yet. It did it the first time, like a month ago or something. What the hell is goin on? I changed it once, never touched it. It does it on it's own. I see it stays the same for a while, then I barely notice and it changes!

adobe premiere or any other video editing software? What filters would we need and what steps would we have to take to get the desired effect. We want the final footage to look as though it was filmed completely at night and look very natural. If you have a link to screen shots of the filter in work or a tutorial that would be very helpful as well. Thank you in advance.
