I have a HP Pavillion 1120n with 2.5 gb ram with a P4 3.06 GHz. I was planning to buy a graphics card but with directx 10 here and better graphics card coming out for it Directx 9 will become obsolete. plus ddr3 is faster then my ddr2. I am so confused

my parents are very protective because i am the only
girl. my older brother has myspace and face book.
and everyone i know has it. my mom says its dangerous.

I have a Apple Macbook.not a pro.And i wanted to buy these computer games like Sims 2 or Roller coaster Tycoon which only runs on Windows.is there something you can download to get Windows instead & play these games?& run Window Movie Maker 2& Window softwares?

In addition,iMovie sucks to me.Whenever i make a amv or something.A 3 min. clip takes 2 GB.Which i cant fit in on youtube which my youtube account only allows you to upload 100mb videos.So i i use those online video editors onetruemedia.com that makes me do montages that takes less space.Im too jaded to go there.So is there a software I can download besides iMovie
that you can edit videos & compress videos that doesnt gobble ub your whole memory?

Hello, I need some help with my ubuntu linux I just got. Putting linux on a CD and booting it would be easier, but I would prefer to use an SD card since I will only install it once. I have already extracted the content and put it on the card. Now I want to know how to boot it without installing it. I restarted my pc and pressed the required key (delete). Now where do I go? Also if you know, how do I install it on the harddrive.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I got an upgrade to windows Vista thru the manufacturer which was HP, it was a rebate where if i sent my receipt in i would get a free copy of window Vista, well after 2 months of installing Vista its asking me for the product key again, and when i type it in it says its already in use and I need to get a new one. Any suggestions on how to fix this? It didnt say anything about it being a trial version otherwise I wouldn't of bothered. It says I have 2 days left to activate it so my other question is what happens if i dont activate it?

Okay... basic information about my computer:
- 768 MB of RAM
- Intel Pentium 4 processor
- 2.80 GHz
- doesn't have a ridiculous amount of stuff on it

/Everything/ runs slowly... even when I only have one or two programs open, and nothing running in the background, everything runs slowly. I do the disk cleanup, the disk defragment... all that stuff, and the computer is still ridiculously slow. It's been like this for a bit, and I cannot figure out the issue. Any advice?

until recently when i downloaded my movies they would show the windows media player icon before showing a frame of the movie, now they show avi icon before the frame is shown in my video file. when i burn to disc and try to play on dvd player it says it can't play file format. how can i fix this?

I heard from a friend that in the "old days", you have to "define" each and every web page (i.e. font, colors...), but NOW there is an easier way if you use PHP and CSS. That sounds fantastic, but how do I do it? If you know of any good and easy to understand (noobie/beginner) tuts online, please do share. =)

I browsed through a lot of web sites/pages today and I noticed that some of the addresses end like this: http://www.name.com while some are like this: http://name.com...why is it like that? I also noticed that some addresses end like this: ...name.com/something, while some are like this ....name.com/something.html and some like this ...name.com/something.php. Again, why is it like that? Can you remove/hide the .html or .php part of a web address?

I had this supposed "Computer Geek" over to try to hook both up... he said he couldn't hook up the scanner cuz it was missing a CD??? And the printer he had NO idea why it wouldn't hook up. He said he "tried eveything"! What's the deal??? Also... I have no sound! I supposedly need to buy speakers for it, but don't know what kind to get. I have an Ultra.
