How can I save documents in Notepad in a computer language I can understand?

When I open these documents, I can't understand the symbols.

I tried to open it in Wordpad. Same gibberish. Then I clicked on view and tried using Unicode and UT*? still gibberish. How can I translate these?

That means the file is not "plain text". You probably need something like Microsoft Word to read it.

You don't want to use Notepad. You want to use WORDpad. Notepad is for system crap.
