I understand that tv's these days have HD however, What makes a TV have HD is it a chip? the broadcast? ....Can you buy this chip or device and install it to a computer, tv, etc

I recently bought a computer video card Nvidia 8500 gt and it mentioned that it had HD I dont see a difference. My computer looks the same with a Nvidia 7600gs Well can someone explain how it works and answer my above questions?

I was trying to edit xorg.conf, to make it so i could use dual monitors, I have a back up copy saved called xorg.conf_backup.

When i turn my computer on the OS GUI wont load its just a terminal. I can get to the directory with the screwed up file, and the correct back up file. How do i copy the old file to the new file? I try to do a cp and it wont let me, rn also wont work.


what do i type in to log in as the admin? do i type in root for the user name??? Thanks!

I have an hp desktop with a pentium D with 2.66GHz, 1 GB of RAM running Windows XP. The laptop I just got is a toshiba with an AMD Turion 64 X2 TL-52, 1GB of RAM running Windows Vista. I'm thinking about returning it because it is soooo much slower than the PC. At rest it uses half of the system's RAM and takes almost three times as long to start up as the PC. What would be the best way to get the performance up? I've thought of some options: buy another gig of RAM, install Windows XP on the laptop, buying a faster processor for the laptop (seems too expensive for the effect it would have). What do you guys think of these options? any others?

after transferring data from a 40g internal hard drive to a 320g external drive which had almost 300g free space i was surprised that the reflected remaining space was about 27g and the total space of the once 320g was reduced to 46g. what is puzzling me is why is it reflecting 46g as total space instead of 320g? what ever happened

Ok, I really can't really decide what kind of laptop to buy. I will be starting college soon as an electrical engineering major. I've been doing a lot of research on macs, and there are some definite pluses. The macbooks look really cool, and also can run Windows using bootcamp. So I can have the best of both worlds. I already have a copy of Windows Vista. But according to this website http://www.appledefects.com/wiki/index.php?title=MacBook , I don't know if I want to risk it. I just don't know what to think about the discoloration or the random shutdowns. And my budget limits me to $1300. I've also heard that Macs hardly have or any viruses or trojans to deal with and very user friendly. I've been using a PC for 7 years. But if I choose a mac, I am willing to learn.

My ISP was bought by another and I had to contact the other ISP in a certain amount of time.I was unable to do so in that time frame. What happens to the emails and the files I saved with my first ISP? Are they gone forever or can I still recover them somehow?

I have moved my DSL service from my old home to my new one. DSL is working fine, but now I'm trying to set up my wireless router. I am on Mac OSX and it seems that it is impossible for me to follow the directions provided by linksys to "reconfigure" the router to work again.

We don't have the money to call geek squad or anything, and we've done everything we can think of to try and fix it ourselves. We tried to do a system restore, but it wouldnt restore, we've done virus scans with adaware and it didn't help. Is there anything else we can try to do? Our computer is hardly worth getting on any more! And I use it every day so this is really bad! help?
