I have moved my DSL service from my old home to my new one. DSL is working fine, but now I'm trying to set up my wireless router. I am on Mac OSX and it seems that it is impossible for me to follow the directions provided by linksys to "reconfigure" the router to work again.

I tried to configure it using the ethernet cable, doing the following:
1. Connected my modem to the router.
2. Connected my router to the computer (via ethernet).
For some reason, the ethernet port light on the router does not illuminate even though there is a cable (for example) from ethernet port 1 to my computer.

Also, I am confused because I don't understand how I would be connected to the internet in order to configure as the router is "in the middle" (between my modem and my computer) and is not yet configured. So I'm worried I am running into the chicken and egg here. Linksys tech support was unable to help me. They said there was something wrong with the router's ethernet port, but I find that hard to believe since it worked yesterday.

Most reconfiguration is recommended to be done via an Ethernet line not Wi-Fi (Wi-Fi can run into chicken-and-the-egg problem Ethernet will not). Do that first, and neighbour had a clash of Wi-Fi network names, that's likely your problem.

If you had just little Wi-Fi knowledge you could've chucked the manual away.

Try resetting the linksys router and reconnecting the modem and then the Mac and set them to DHCP.
