Computers & Internet - 25 October 2006

When on the web I may get redirected to another site or my mouse will hit a tab but nothing happens. I have to close out. I hear an occasional 'click' when shutting down or changing sites. Also, unable to close down computer as icons are unresponsive and I have to press and hold the on/off button. I defragged last week and things run a bit faster. Also, can be extremely slow booting up. Tool bar will appear on Yahoo home page and it stops there. I tab "mail" and it will go there. Any suggestions what I should check out before I get it to the Nerds at a repair store?
I have Norton, Symantek, webroot spy sweeper. all report okay

I have a DELL INSPIRON 8100 laptop
and the screen went pink then completly black..

I connected it to my desk top and was able to use it, so I know the harddrive is still good.
no warranty on it

any suggestions for repair..unfortunately Dells customer service is in India, and I am not fluent in Punjabi.

i have p 4 2.4 ghz with via chipset when i start my pc it show a startup screen with energy logo and it show pc config. and it take lot of time. can there is any sol. so that screen should removed or it take less time.

I have had no problems with my computer until now. I have two files I need to open, but when I try- I get a message that says "conversion in progress." That's it- the program does not respond from there, it just doesn't do anything. I have tried a system restore, but have had no luck. I really need to get to these files for school. Any ideas? Please help.

I created a WinAmp playlist, but winamp apparently doesn't create MP3 discs; only audio discs. Nero worked in burning the tracks, but it butchered the playlist order. Roxio (built-in ripper/burner for Windows Media Player) is a disaster: can't handle MP3 discs. So anyone know any good software to rip/burn playlists into an MP3 disc?

i have a toshiba m105-s3074 laptop and on the front it has a switch to turn wireless on and off and next to it there is a semi-see through piece of plastic and it says Infrered on it, my cell phone is also infrared, but when i enable it on my phone and point it at the IR receptor nothing happens, do i have to enable something on my laptop or download something or what?

I have a iBook G4 (laptop) and I already took it apart, but didn't have adequate tools, I then (somehow) screwed up the disk drive and now I cannot put disks in. (it seems there is something blocking it, it may be a piece of metal from the protectant cover inside the computer that bent and scratches disks when I try to put them in.) I knew what I was doing, but ran out of time, so a friend had to put it back together (we had already took it almost all apart to fix the I/O Bezel.

We have a laptop running Windows XP, for some unknown reason the sound does not work. The speaker icon located in the toolbar is now missing. When I went to control panel and selected sound control the adjustment options were not activated (they would not allow me to make adjustments). Nothing is pluged in to the speaker jacks. Earthlink DSL was installed and the sound problem resulted after that. What should we do?

I have a Roger cable, very fast interent, at my Condominium. As soon as I log into the websites that Canadian Police & Gov. have interest on them and they do not want the public get access to hm; the page is not loading. Of course in Canada all porn websites are supported by Gov.; I mean, for example the United Nations Websites, that contains documents that Canada convicted for toture and murders of many citizens, and aboginals innocent people. I filed many complaint with Canadian authorties, like CRTC, Federal Court of Canada; in fact my conditions get worst and the Toronto Police unlawfully arrested me and tortured me, and while I was in Toronto Jail, Poice, trespassed my home, and destroyed all my files in the personal computer, deleted all my website.
