well, it looks like they have really enhanced the "look and feel" of things, and they've made it a lot more "user friendly." Things are very easy to do, like networking, and security. It is as different from XP and 98 as 95 was from 3.1... they have made some serious changes. The desktop properties dialog has changed, and the control panel is different, and when you go to add/remove, you have more options that you can do with the list. I tried Vista out for a while, and when I went back to my XP machine, I felt bored. It is definitely groovy. It does take more system resources to run, so if you have an older computer, don't even bother. Just like when XP first came out, and you tried to put it on an older 95 or 98 machine... it just didn't work too well. I would say that if you buy a new computer after the turn of the new year, you will be amazed and impressed. Good stuff.

if i were you, i wouldn't get it on any computer for at least 6 months after it is released. i would recommend waiting a year. then Microsoft will have time to work out all the bugs and you will have a great system once you get it.

i don't have it, so i wouldn't really know firsthand whether it is any good or not, but i am going to get it in the future, for sure.
