I have had no problems with my computer until now. I have two files I need to open, but when I try- I get a message that says "conversion in progress." That's it- the program does not respond from there, it just doesn't do anything. I have tried a system restore, but have had no luck. I really need to get to these files for school. Any ideas? Please help.

First, make sure that you're not out of memory. If that's not the issue, you might want to download OpenOffice (free) and try opening the document with that: I've had great luck with it. It can open and save docs to/from many different formats.
I'm sure there are other possible solutions, but it sounds like this is something you need to do quickly.
