I just built a new computer from the ground up. Everything on it is running fine except that I cannot connect to the internet. When I attempt to install the necessary programs provided by my high speed cable provider, I get a message return "Cannot detect your Network Interface Card (NIC).

The connections are double checked between the cable modem, the ethernet plugs and where it plugs into my motherboard.

My motherboard is a Gigabyte GA-K8N-SLI NF4SLI 939

The built in helper instructs me to go to 'Start -> control panel -> add hardware -> (install detected hardware). I can't complete the last step because it doesn't detect any new hardware.

Is there something else that I should be looking for or something else that I should be doing? I can't connect to the internet until this is resolved.

Since I just reached level 4, I thought I'd ask a question. Does anyone else have Firefox browser in addition to IE? I got it last night and it solved a problem IE explorer was repeatedly encounterning. I'm totally impressed. I also notice it is much FASTER to load the pages than with IE.

How is it working for you?

My husband just bought a new SonyEricsson camera phone, and in the instructions it says that we can use "bluetooth" to establish a link between his phone and our PC. However, we are both totally technically inept, and we can't make sense of the instructions! Can someone, in plain English and small words, tell us how to do this? We know that we have to go to the SonyEricsson website and download some software (although we don't have a direct link to the file, and we can't find it), but from there we are lost. Does something need to plug into our computer? And at what port? Do we need to buy specialized equipment? We don't even know what "bluetooth" actually is!! Please help, we are SO lost!

I want to submit data from my page to constantcontacts.com. without using javascript. I have a form which has submit button which submits to same page. Also there is a control on the same page. Data from this control needs to be submiitted to http://ui.constantcontact.com/d.jsp and open the page in new window for confirmation. I am using javascript in control to submit data first when i click in control it works, then when i click on submit button on the form it opens the above URL instead of submitting the form

I was using Limewire. I downloaded Bearshare today and Zango which supports it started giving me a lot of pop ups. I tried closing both Lime.. and bearshare they kept restarting. I restarted my PC but again they started up automatically. I kept getting an alert asking if I wanted to make Limewire my default magnetic reader (I think) If I pressed ok Limewire restarted. Then I uninstalled both from my PC. But still I'm getting a lot of popups. They are ads or webpages opening with IE. The webpages first open with www.ad-w-a-r-e.com... and then go on to other websites. My PC is running very slowly. I've scanned my PC atleast 5 times with Ad-Aware SE and I'm scanning it with Norton too. In between all this Spyware Nt (I think) asked if I want to install it. I thought it was anti-adware and installed it. Ad-aware showed me it was a critical object and I've uninstalled it. Pop ups keep coming. Please help me out....
