the top bar gets long when you make the window long.
can it be done in Dreamweaver if so how?

Its a table cell with a background image.
Below is the image. This does not work in all browsers.

I don't know if Dreamweaver allows background images for table cells.

Well, it's pretty simple actually. You can set "margin-top: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px;" in the "BODY" style. Then, you create a table at the top, and set width to "100%", not "100" or "100px". :)

It is broken in Firefox. So do you really want to make your page look like a borken one?
