If you have children that ride their bikes/scooters in the street, would you be interested in buying a mobile alerting system that notifies you and your children of approaching cars?

I live on a hill above and behind a petrol station..... All I ever hear during the day when I am home is a loudspeaker saying 'Can you switch your mobile phone off please?'

Do people really not know that you aren't supposed to use them at a petrol station?????

A guy crashed into a tree after "losing control" after his gas pedal "got stuck" after going over a second speed bump.

Somehow he turned left right after the speed bump, went over the sidewalk, over the front lawn of the corner house, across the street and into a tree.

He was NOT driving a muscle car with a carb. He was driving a small beater with fuel injection.

He put the passenger in the hospital for a month, he wasnt drunk or high. He claimed his gas pedal got stuck. Can't you hit the brakes shift to neutral or turn the engine off?

Can anyone tell me why a responsible driver should not be able to open alcohol in their vehicle without punishment as long as they are not breaking any "real" driving laws or hurting anyone? What's the big deal? Having one drink while driving is illegal but you can have at least 3 before you get in the car and have alcohol in your system but be legal, and this is safer why? I'd rather be on the road with the person that has the least amount to drink but they are both within the legal BAC. Is this fair?

It is the part in between the front and back doors of a car, inbetween the windows, a verticle strip of either plastic or metal. My friends say that this is why they sit with their seat leaned back, so their head will be covered and not be in front of the window, where a bullet would easily pass through.

Some may disagree, but big cars are safer, little cars are more fuel efficient. I want to stand a chance of walking away if I get hit by a Tahoe, so I prefer a car with a little more girth.
I'm not sure how some of these high mileage, economical, small cars will fare, even with multiple airbags.
I would never forgive myself if something ever happened to my family while driving a tiny car. I choose safety over economy, and cannot justify sacrificing safety for a few dollars in fuel savings. I do want to save the world, also, by using less fuel, but have to be alive to do that.

What do you think?

I just started driving, my hubby tells me it is better to use one foot for both gas and brake but all the time I tend to use both, I keep one on the accelerator and the other on the brake ready to use just in case. This is my first time driving, he told me it is better if I brake this habit now, but I tend to forget and end up using two feet all the time it gives me more security and I do not have to worry about that split second where you have to move your foot to switch pedal. Instead one foot stays on the gas pedal and the other one rests ready on the brake. Is this ok?

In the past two years of living in the Southwest, I have experienced random road rage three times.....all by older Hispanic males. Just a few days ago, I was driving my white Jeep only to have yet another older respectable-appearing Hispanic driving a new SUV make gestures and cuss me out. Out of curiosity, I followed him to a parking lot only to have him jump out, continue cussing me out and speaking nonsensically. For the life of me, I can't figure out why. I have nothing on my car, drive safely, and I'm just a 30ish clean-cut white Joe-American. Can anyone offer an explanation?

so many people die when a car gets submerged - they have to figure a way to get the people out if that ever happens? maybe through the bottom somehow? or something? look at the bridge disaster - the people in the cars died, no way out - depending on the kind of windows I guess. just bothers me that people die when they probably dont' need to.

Ok, so I'm going back to work (Part-time) and so there will be a need for a 2nd carseat for our 12 month daughter. Here's the thing. My husband wants me to look at yard sales for a car seat... I dont think so... I dont know if that car seat was involved in an accident or not (which makes them void per safety standards) or how clean another family was, I'm wierd like that, I think of diaper blow outs, puking, sippy cups leaking etc... so I was talking to my mom, and she gave me a $50 towards a 2nd car seat. Am I wrong to want a new one, or should I just make the hubby happy and get a yard sale car seat?!?!?!?
I know this sounds stupid, but it's really bothering me. It's not about money to me, it's about safety, but to him it's about money since its a 2nd seat and I'm only working part time.
Good grief, someone help me lol
THANKS!

My friend was in a car accident yesterday. It was close to head on but at an angle. A car collided with hers and her head hit the steering wheel. Then the airbags went off launching her head and neck violently back into the seat. Not only that but the airbag went up enough that it collided with the windshield and shattered it. Glass didn't go anywhere though because its some kind of safety glass or something. Why did the airbags do this? The car was a Pontiac Solstice.

I have 2001 Mitsubishi Galant. My wheel size is P195/65R15. A friend of mine wants to give me two tires with rims but they are P195/60R15. I was wondering whether or not I should still be able to use the two new tires with the other tires I have on their already and will the size difference create any problems.

He had them because his wife had a 2002 Galant but got a new car after her bought the tires already. He also said I should put them in the front, but I didn't ask why and I don't know much about cars.

Any help would be great.
