There is usually room to move in the driveway.

In New Jersey, we did not.
Traffic on the parkway was so bad that we were parked.
Car theft was so common that we parked in the garage and only used the driveway as a place to drive to and from the garage.

That's a loaded question. Why do they do any of the odd things they do?
I think it has something to do with their need to mangle the English language. And the fact that they are generally confused so I don't think they grasp the idiocy of that.

why are we the only country to measure height and shoe sizes in inches, why do we use miles instead on kilometers, why do we use fareinheight instead of celcius, why do we use square feet to measure homes instead of square meters? we're very strange =)
