Can anyone tell me why a responsible driver should not be able to open alcohol in their vehicle without punishment as long as they are not breaking any "real" driving laws or hurting anyone? What's the big deal? Having one drink while driving is illegal but you can have at least 3 before you get in the car and have alcohol in your system but be legal, and this is safer why? I'd rather be on the road with the person that has the least amount to drink but they are both within the legal BAC. Is this fair?

once again, I don't believe my ears, what's wrong with picture, I can legally drink at least 3 and get in the car and drive legally, but if I have 1 open while I'm driving I am breaking the law and less intoxicated by two fold legally, and still under the limit than if I had the 3 before I drove. Give me an intelligent and sensible answer if you think I'm wrong.

everyone still misses the point, I'm not condoning drunk driving at all, having a glass of wine at dinner and driving home is no different than having it in the car as far as the effect on the body. I am very well educated as far as alcohol is concerned as well as driving. Are you?

while I understand what you are trying to say, I think you fail to realize that while a few people may only consume one alcoholic beverage when they are in the car, many will use the law to their advantage and drink more than one drink, tossing the empty ones out the window when finished. Drinking and driving is disgusting, destructive, and no RESPONSIBLE person gets behind the wheel with even one drink in their system. Just because a certain amount of alcohol in the system is considered legal by the law, doesn't mean it's smart. I'd rather get in a car with someone behind the wheel who has had nothing to drink. And how would the law determine who these "responsible" individuals would be that would get the privilege of having an open container of alcohol in their car? How are we going to know "they aren't hurting anyone" until it's too late.

If you drink and drive you are not responsible, end of story, nothing further need be said.

But anyway, if you are driving you should be concentrating on the road, not on your mobile phone conversation or your big mac or your drink. Eating while driving has been shown to reduce concentration and increase risks of traffic accidents and so has drinking even non-alcoholic beverages while driving so you should not be even drinking water while your car is moving with you in control.

Any stupidity in the law could be fixed by requiring all drivers to have a zero Blood Alcohol Concentration at all times while driving a vehicle.

i think of you're the two in denial approximately your Alcohol in take. in case you're able to ask then that's a difficulty. If Alcohol isn't a difficulty then end now for a 365 days. If all people needs to drink while applying it skill they attempt to say no to alcohol and your Husband is applying" that's in user-friendly terms a small volume" as an excuse. look i'm no longer asserting you're finished blown alcoholics or something purely which you're able to re-think of the drink. in case you disagree lots why did you get interior the motor vehicle and enable himcontinual.

If you have to ask, after seeing all the carnage caused by damn drunks on the roads, you are a sad case. By the way, nobody can blow under the legal limit after 3 drinks unless that is spread over several hours. 20% percent of traffic fatalities are caused by drunk drivers, every one of whom thought they were fine to drive. That's you! Every one of them is you!

You don't get it. The person behind the wheel with alcohol in hand is the least qualified person to judge whether he is sober or not. You claim to be educated, but you don't show it.

this is one of the reasons that many states have changes their laws from DWI(driving while intoxicated) to DUI(driving under the influence). you can have a legal blood alcohol level, and still be impaired in your driving. this is one fo the reasons that cops have field sobriety tests, as well as a BAC test. dont be fooled into thinking that you can drink and drive responsibly. alcohol lowers your inhibitions, and you tend to take chances you would not otherwise take. this also applies to some medications that you might be taking as well.

Well obviously drinking WHILE driving is a distraction like talking on the mobile phone. And what does responible mean to you? if you kill someone its ok as long as you accept responsibility for your actions? It doesn't matter about yourself, if you want to put yourself at risk thats fine but youre also putting others at risk and that is NOT fine. Can't you wait til you get home? why would you want to drink WHILE driving anyway?

none of it is fair to the innocent children or other people on the road that have the good sense to know that alcohol has no place on the road in the first place. there is no such thing as being responsible and being on the road drinking. alcohol affects your judgement as well as reflecks. it should be illegal to have even one drop of it in you while driving. good luck and best wishes.

As first effect of alcohol on your brain, you loose your sense of speed. Secondly your reaction timing is impaired. If you DUI , you are certainly not responsible to the society.

you obviously need to attend AA meetings...even one drink is to much...to drive....just the fact that you need to drink shows immaturity and irresponsable behaviour.this is exactly why we as a society have chosen to punish drunk drivers...one is too many...but to you one is never enough....
