I just got my license a month ago so I would like some tips on driving:

1. How do I change lanes into a lane where there are a ton of cars going extremely fast? In cases like this, I always take a u-turn.
2. On the freeway, how many miles from my exit (1, 2, 1/2, etc.?), should I start to change into the right lane?
3. How do I know if I am centered in my lane? I have seen people drive on the lines so I'm concerned that I might be doing the same thing.

I'm sure it's for safety concerns. I just want to know the exact reason.

The government has lifted a requirement that speed cameras only be fitted to areas where speeding has been proven to be a cause of accidents. This will mean they can be placed virtualy anywhere for councils and the police to make money. Though speed kills I think the majority of motorists would prefer they were placed at red lights and box junctions instead as they would have more of a preventative effect which would also improve traffic flow - what do you think?

It seems that nearly everthing is against the driver, how about turning one's attention to the cyclists that does not have lights after dark(they must be up to no good) and riding on pavements, which are not designated cycle paths. Both are still against the law in the UK so why dont the Police do something about it, or is that too hard for them , I mean cylists dont have number plates or insurance do they.

my boyfriend's brother was struck by a vehicle while crossing a two lane highway. he claimed to have looked both ways, but was hit and both legs were broken. he ended up getting cited for the accident. my boyfriend is furious at me b/c i told him that unfortunately it was his brothers fault. my bf said that it is the law that drivers control their vehicles at all times (true) and that pedestrians always have the right-of-way and that the driver of the vehicle should be in jail. i told himwhat i believe to be the law and he blew up at me. he claims that a pedestrian is never at fault in an accident and he is going to get a lawyer b/c it wasn't his brothers fault. I was just wondering if anyone could direct me to a website that clearly states rules for pedestrians or anything that clearly states the laws and who's responsible in a case like this. thanks

Could anyone suggest reasons or faults that are valid enough to stop using a driving instructor? (Proper answers please)

i have been told that due to eec regulations you are not allowed to have booster seats in rear facing car seats, which bench seats are. so can I do it or not. what does the law say and what can they do if I go ahead and have it done regardless?

I am 13 and my brother got rear ended by someone on the freeway and pushed him into another car. it was raining today by the way :) and we pulled over and all and the people who hit us got out and asked if everyone was ok and went back to their car cuz no one was hurt and they got in and took off before the police came. The police said it was hit and run. I was in the car by the way with my bro. Why am i still shaking from it? It happened earlier today at like 2:30 pm and its 8 pm now. Why am i still shaking and how long will it be before i am over it?

So It is a yellow light, so I proceed to go forward. There is a big semi to my left, which blocks perhaps a third of the intersection. All of a sudden, a driver makes a left turn in front of me, and I try to brake, but can't help running into him. The damage is to my front grill and right headlights, the guy who made the left turn damages his right rear bumper. The police report comes out and says the ruling is 50/50. Is this justified? I believe that I should be less at fault than the guy who made the left turn.

Vehicles must stop for a pedestrian in a crosswalk, why not animals? This is a loaded question to see how many serious and whacky answers it gets.

I have four kids 6 and younger, and have heard people say its illegal to keep children unattended in autos. (but for how long?)It is soo snowy, cold and icy in the wintertime that I feel it is safer to keep them seatbelted in my warmed vehicle with keys out of ignition and doors locked while I run into a gas station to pay for gas or while I run up to the school to pick up my older kids. If I'm only gone for a minute or so can I get into legal trouble for doing this? What's your opinion/knowledge on this as a parent or law enforcer?
