There is a little bit of divided thought on this question. Some say it's just as bad, others say cell phones are worse. Here is a link to a Forbes article that describes a study where 40 people followed a pace car along a prescribed course, using a driving simulator. The drunks did a lot better than the cell phone users.

it depends on a whole lot of factors, its impossible to judge. it depends on the driver, the car, the road, the weather, the speed, etc. drunk driving can also be different. if youre so drunk you're falling asleep, its much more dangerous than if youre slightly drunk but energized. a lot depends on the driver as well. of course, driving and talking on the cell phone can be dangerous. Exactly how dangerous is very hard to tell, judge it yourself and be careful.

I drive for living and have been cut off and forced onto the shoulder by more people on phones than suspected drunks but that is probably cuz there are more cell phone users than drunks on the road.

Depending on situation. If you have hand free on, in light traffic, & just shooting the breeze, I don't believe it is more dangerous than drunk driving. When you don't have a hands free on, in heavy traffic, &/or having a heated conversation, it is a recipe for disaster. You can't have full control of the vehicle when one hand is on the cell & the other is on the wheel or your mind is on anything but driving.

A drunk who's driving thinks he's ok, too. Think about that for a second. Cell phones wouldn't be an issue if people weren't dying from them.

neither is better or worse than the other ..how ever they are both stupid... not to mention felonies if caught or causes of accidents
esspecially those that involve death
although i occasionally talk on a phone i use a speaker , hands free and i am more alert to whats going on becuase i keep in mind of how dangerous it can bel.. so in heavy traffic you want catch me on a phone, or whenthekids are in the car no phone.. pull over if the conversation is really that involved or hail a cab.

Mythbusters did an experiment on this. And they concluded that driving with a cell phone can be just as dangerous as driving intoxicated.

Depends on how experienced of a cell phone user you are. I would say driving drunk is much worse.. in MY experience anyway. I personally can text message and drive but that's just me.
