My car was towed because I was driving without a license. I would rather sign over my car than pay $1400 for the 30 day storage fee. How do I do that?

okay, please settle this fight between my boyfriend and i.

he lived in illinois where he had a valid drivers license

he moved to MN where he was pulled over for a DUI and his license in MN is revoked.

he thinks that because he stil has his ill license he can legally drive in illinois- is this right?

i say that he cannot because you are not to carry more then one drivers license at a time- so once he got his mn license in my eyes his illinois license became invalid. also, i say if you lose your license for DUI in one state you shouldnt be able to drive in any state.

someone help?

The other day I failed my emissons control test simply because my car was emitting too many hydrocarbons. But one thing that I notice is that nobody seems to mind when big trucks and busses spew out these huge plumes of thick black smoke.

So I see people carrying mattresses on top of their cars all the time, so I was wondering what's the best way to do that? I have a Saturn ION (half doors in the back-no windows). I will need to transport a queen mattress on the highway this weekend and trying not to purchase a rental truck. Thanks!

In the novel "Matilda", the protagonist's father is a dishonest used car salesman. One of the tactics he describes is to connect the odometer of a car to a drill, and run it backwards, to make the number of miles go down. Is that really possible? Does it work in real life? What about electronic speedometers?

I need an extra car key made. There is no microchip or anything, just a basic key. How do I get one? Do I need to order it, or can I go somewhere and get it copied? It's for a 94 Thunderbird.

I've got an old vehicle that doesn't like to go above 60 when hauling a load. Trucks insist on coming so close I can't see their headlights, how do I make them back off a little? Don't want to be squashed if I have to stop suddenly.

It looks a bit like a modern version of an old gangster car but with curvey sides and sort of a flat back with small rear window. I've only seen a couple and not got close enought to identify them. Not much to go on I know.....

I hear lots of people swear by their American vehicles and vow never to buy Japanese or foreign vehicles because "I love America and I support my country."

But isn't it just as "American" to buy, for example, a Honda vehicle, when in fact many of the Honda vehicles we buy come from American factories made by American workers?

And besides, they're just cars. Since when did the decision to purchase a car become such a heated nationalistic ideal? It's just a car. When Americans start joining the Japanese army, then I'll be worried. But when it comes to cars, just buy the one you want. What could be more American than that?

I drive a manual transmission car (5-speed) and saw the instructions for the automatic car wash. They indicate to 'put the car in park'. What does that mean? Neutral? Neutral+break? This should be an easy question to answer.... Thanks!

Hi all,

I currently own a 1993 Volvo 940 with 137,000 miles and a 1998 Volvo V70XC with 134,000 miles. My grandfather is cancelling his drivers' license and wants to give us a loaded (even the digital dash) 1996 Mercury Grand Marquis LS Bayshore with only 65,000 miles and no major repairs ever. I absolutely love this car, but my wife isn't so sold.

We can also only afford to own two cars; it wouldn't be economically practical for us to own three with only two drivers. Their gas mileage is all about equal; so is the insurance cost. My question is: Should I take the Mercury? If so, which Volvo should I get rid of? The V70 has insanely high repair bills but, it is a wagon, so it's good for occasional trips. The 940 is my wife's favorite, and is essentially bulletproof -- no major repairs ever. The Mercury is one of my favorite cars of all time, plus it's soooo comfortable and repairs (if we ever need them) are generally cheap.

So...again...Which TWO should stay?
