You have indicated that this vehicle is still titled in your name. That means that as far as your State/Provence is concerned YOU are the owner of record of this vehicle. Your failure to take care of this matter when you got rid of the car means that you can be legally held responsible to pay this fine. In addition to anything else that happens you need to do this now. It's usually just filing a form at your local motor vehicle department.

DO NOT file a FALSE police report that the car was stolen, that could get you in serious trouble if your police department wishes to press the issue.

If your name is still on the title, then you are ultimately responsible for the ticket - but this also means that you can take your car back, since its in your name. You really should have changed the title when you gave it to your sister. And whoever has the car now should have paid the fine. He/she may have ignored the fine simply because the car isn't in his/her name.

Good luck.

you should have gotten the title switched over along time ago...but if they wrote a ticket to he registered owner it may just be a parking ticket...if so, it may not be expensive to go ahead and pay it off. it could take alot of time and trouble to proove that the vehicle was not yours when this ticket was issued since you failed to switch the title.

Just notify them that you don't own the vehicle, the date you disposed of it and who the new owner was.
