I need an extra car key made. There is no microchip or anything, just a basic key. How do I get one? Do I need to order it, or can I go somewhere and get it copied? It's for a 94 Thunderbird.

Go to the Ford shop or any hardware store. Any place that makes keys should be able to help.

Any hardware store or Super store Like Wal Mart, KMart, Home Depot, Lowes, or a local hardware store can do it. They place the key in a device and have matches and cut it to the shape of the original. I had a key made for a Dodge neon, the original keys were silver. the cpoies were goldish. Personally I'd call up each place and go with whatever is cheaper to make. You can order keys through the dealer, but I would not reccomend them unless it had a chip in it. My car has only 1 key for the door, and that's incase the battery dies out in either the main power or remote keyless entry. All I would have to do is insert the thing that looks like a remote starter in a slot and it will start the car. Also, all I have to do is get near a door and will instantly unlock because I got that keyless entry system. For me, to replace one of them is $500 and have to go through the dealer. any conventional key is about $10-$0 per key. Now the only thing that would screw up getting it copied somewhere is if it's a special key and nobody can find an exact copy of the key in question. Also if the key type was out of stock, you would probably have to take it back to the dealer and have it rekeyed.

Are you sure ?
that vehicle should have a factory alarm disarm wire, therefore should be a transceiver in the key.

I bet that there is a thick black plastic coating on the key, If so then that key is a transceiver.therefore not only do you need a key but you also need to program the new one.

If there's no chip in it (and a lot of cars that old do have one), you can get a spare cut at any locksmith, or sometimes even at Home Depot. Always call your local Ford dealer first to find out if there is a chip hidden in it.

As long as it's a regular key, any locksmith or hardware store should be able to help you.
