I drive an MY99 Subaru Impreza turbo 2000 with full decat and usually run with Tescos super unleaded (99ron)I put my first tank full of the new Shell V-Power in a couple of days ago and the car seems to run a lot smoother where as Sainsburys super seems to do the opposite.
What car do you drive? and do you notice the difference? or is it just psychological?

My brake pads have been going bad, and being the procrastinator I am, I have put off fixing them. Suddenly, they got extremely bad. They grind very hard and loud, and I'm not sure that there's anything left to grind...may be just grinding on metal. My bro is going to fix it this weekend, but I'm scared to drive the 70 miles there. Financially, I don't really have a choice, however.

I've heard there's some type of product to put on the windshield that you take off in the morning and it takes the frost with it, but are there other things you can do to keep frost off (I don't have a garage) or remove the frost easily (not scraping, and definitely not pouring hot anything on it). Just to give you an idea, I live in south Tenn. So it doesn't get down to like 0 or anything, just like 25 or there abouts.

When I last drove the car it kept losing power from the engine and the voltage meter kept dropping. the engine problem was like the trans would stop pulling evry so often while driving. The faster I drove the harder the engine would jerk the car. I put it on the highway to see if the battery would charge but the voltage meter would still decline. And the car continued to bogg out on the freeway. Can someone help me figure out my problem so that I may fix it without over repairing unesessary parts. Please Help me someone!

I've got a 1989 Ford F-150. All was fine until the other day. When I try to start it, it makes a horrible clicking noise. I isolated the sound and replaced the remote starter selenoid, but it still makes the noise and will not start. Is it possible a new selenoid would come burnt out? Should I get another one, or could there be more to my problem, such as bad terminal conections/ground, bad wiring, bad starter (the starter doesn't seem to be turning at all in this process, but I wouldn't think it should if the selenoid is bad), I've even heard thick oil can contribute to problems - it's been 3000 miles since the last change. I've tried jumper cables and that hasn't helped.

Please let me know what you think will most likely solve my problem.

i purchased a 2004 nissan sentra 1.8 in jan 2005....i had the belt(s) replaced in dec of 2005 (less than a year ago)...the car only had 12000 miles on it when i bought it (demo i found out)....now i have 37000 miles on it....is there only one belt and its a serpentine?....the belt squeals only when idle or when i am not accelerating...if i accelerate then the sqeal disappears...does it need to be tightened?...it shouldnt need to be replaced should it?...i thought these belts were good for at least 75000 miles!....can someone troubleshoot for me so i can determine whether or not to replace myself or take to dealership...my owners manual suggests the latter and it aint cheap....last year it was like $320.00!

The book on my 1999 Ford Windstar says every 5,000 miles. The dealership put a sticker in the car that says change after 3,000. The vehicle has 46,000 miles on it. So should I change it every 3 or 5 thousand? Oh, I drive on two miles of gravel per day and the rest is highway and I drive about 1,000 miles per month. Thanks!

There's a rattling noise from under the hood and a few days ago the check engine light came on. I went to get it checked by a computer at Auto Zone and they gave me a code...PO422...main catalyst efficiency for bank 1 is below threshold for the current engine operating conditions. What's all that mean? It must be fixed but I just want to know what it is so I don't get screwed at the mechanic.

This motor is a 4.0 NorthStar. No one wants to give out any information, I guess they want you to take it to a garage and at this time I cannot afford to do so. I would appreciate any help available.

I am having a nightmare experience at this bodyshop. Originally I took my car in for minor fender-bender repairs, which took over a month to complete for some reason. Then, when I got my car back the first time, there was a new gash on the other side of the car which they were responsible for. They at first denied it, then agreed to fix it. So then, they kept my car for another week, then when I went to pick up the car, there was a spot about the size of a dollar bill on the passenger's side door where the clearcoat was pulled up and some had chipped off. It sticks out like a sore thumb. The bodyshop says that it happened when they pulled the masking tape off of the door, and that they're not responsible to fix it because supposedly that part of the car had been painted previously and it's not their workmanship. (I've had my car for 5 years- it is 10 years old.) My paint has never looked so awful. What should I do?
