If the noise is during warmup only, just leave it. They had bulletins and piston updates and yada, yada, it will not hurt anything if it goes away warm.

For another 10,000 miles . Baby it and be looking for a replacement , if your pistons are slapping the rest of the motor has got to be worn pretty heavy too.

Heavier oil will make things wear out even faster. It doesn't get into the tight spaces as well.

yes most times a heavier oil can mask the noise, but that is no fix for the problem.

Not really. No matter how heavy the oil is, the worn rings are still worn.

I had one that did it for 50,000 miles & it still runs ok. (once it warmed up, it was quiet) I used 10-40 oil with one can of stp.
