Ahh I like this question, Here is what I use on a Red Pantera. makes it look like it is wet but shiny I have used Mothers FX and that is easy but I recently switched to a new product called reflections. This should be just what a black car needs. Follow the instructions and you bet I always hand rub the ol' Pantera, makes it look better that the guy who wants to hurry through and just get it done. I usually take about 3 hour to detail the car inside and out. Paste waxes are OK but as you say a lot of wax on wax off... Oh ya you'll pay for it..

It depends on what you are looking to accomplish. Some people say "wax" but mean "polish". Polish will shine, and wax will protect. Usually you will polish and then wax. Meguiar's is usually a pretty darn good product regardless of wax or polish. If you are looking for the best possible shine (polish), then Zymol is good. If you are looking for the best protection, then something with carnuba wax in it is a good choice (like Turtle, Mother's, etc.). Good luck!

Some people will argue, "hands down", that it's Turtle Wax...that stuff last forever it seems like. If you can put it on without almost cursing a blue streak because it's hard to get rubbed in, you're stronger than I am.
