Q: FOR ASE CERT. MECHANICS,& MITSUBISHI "SERVICE TECHS"- WHAT ENGINES WERE
AVAILABLE FOR THAT CAR IN 1997? I AM PROSPECTIVELY LOOKING AT PURCHASING A 1997 MITSUBSHI ECLIPSE WITH 91,000 MILES. I KNOW THE CAR, OTHER THAN THE TIMING BELT/CHAIN, WHAT THINGS SHOULD I CONSIDER & LOOK CLOSE AT IN REGARD TO THE MECHANICAL CONDITION OF THIS CAR? I'M NOT PAYING A LOT FOR IT BUT I DONT WANT TO MAKE A MISTAKE AND OVERLOOK A POTENTIAL EXPENSIVE, FUTURE ,MECHANICAL PROBLEM OR A PROBLEM PART WITH THAT CAR & MODEL. PLEASE ELABORATE ON WHAT YOU KNOW ABOUT THIS MODEL.ALSO ADDRESS ANY RE- OCCURRING PROBLEMS OR RECALLS WITH THIS MODEL. ANY PROFESSIONAL ADVICE YOU COULD GIVE WILL BE HELPFUL.

Simple things that I can do at home, or get done at an auto shop. I am getting about 600 km/$40 of gas. My Dad's CIVIC gets around 800 km/$40. I drive an '01 Mazda Protege. Any help? Thanks

I have a 199 Ford Windstar whose computer started acting up a week ago. A bunch of items on the Van stopped working including the AC. The blower still works fine , but the compressor doesn't turn on. Is it possible to directly run a seperate 12v source to the compressor to have it turn on. I simply refuse to get a new computer, since I've only owned this car for 4 months and already spend $3500 on repairs. Will it work if its given power directly from any 12v source.

I have a 2005 Ford Focus and the dust over the engine does not look good at all. I would like to wash it. Would I damage the engine if I take the vehicle to a car wash (self service), spray under the hood with a degreaser and then rinse the engine with cold water (of course assuming that the engine has not run for a while and is cold)? What is the best place to clean the engine of a newer vehicle?

I'm looking at perhaps starting a career in that field where it will be on the job type of training but I was looking for any kind of helpful tips that would much be appreciated, I have a good grasp on oil changing, tire changing etc. but what are some good pointers that you experienced mechanics can give to a rookie? I plan on starting out at this Tire and Lube shop.

My car's fuel computer says I am consuming 0.0 litres per kilometer when I am cruising in gear with my feet off the accellerator (gas) pedal (e.g. going downhill, coming up to a junction, or roundabout etc.) Is this true? How is it done? The engine is still running. I can hear it! Is the computer wrong?

I have a Audi 200 1991 Im getting a warning light that is a circle with three lines on each side of it ( To be more specific the three lines on each side follow the shape of a circle slightly larger then the complete inner circle) does any one have any ideal what this warning light indicates. and or possible solutions to the problem
