Are you absolutely sure it's the head gasket??? There are other possibilites that can cause leaks. Think about that first. Head gasket = you will have white smoke coming out of tailpipe. I just can't believe this has been going on for two years. If not, check your cooling system completely. That includes all connections and parts associated. And don't forget the heater core and freeze plugs, not just the water pump. Anyway, it's worth fixing, provided you can do it yourself. But it's kinda hard to do. Your choice!

depends on what condition the rest of the engine and car is in.
If they are both in good shape then...ya I would cause it would only cost you about $150.00 to fix. that price is from cloquet, minnesota where I'm at. It may be more in different states.
Otherwise you can go to a junk yard and have them pull the part for a lot less probably about $75.00.
because I have a 93 pontiac grand prix and everything needs to be replaced on that but most of the parts are coming from the junk yard just because I can get a engine for $400 with less then 170,000 miles so that should help.

In the long run it will be cheaper than buying all that antifreeze. I want to tell you to tell her antifreeze is poison to animals. It tastes sweet to them but it will kill them even if the just taste a little bit of it. It isn't a kind to thing to allow the antifreeze to go on the ground. Either quickly depose of the car or fix it. You should be able to get at least 200,000 miles out of that car so it seems worth fixing to me especially if it is paid for.

There is stuff on the market now that you can add to your coolant for stop leak and if the leak isn't to bad the stuff works. Check at a couple automotive stores (Pep boy's etc...) they should know what to recommend because the repair is expensive.

Can you do the labor? If not, this could be a real toss-up. Usually, it is always cheaper to fix and drive the car you already own vs buying another.
