I'm looking to buy a car, at the moment i don't have one, just sold my last one and my boyfriend has been telling me to get a honda civic, (he had a 2000 honda intergra type R) i only have about $2,000 to spend so i don't wanna get something too expensive, i just want to hear from some people who own a honda civic (preferably an older one) to know what they are like and how reliable they are.

This is the car i've been looking at getting: http://www.carpoint.com.au/used-car/HONDA/CIVIC/South%20Australia/2157943.aspx

My first A 1 maintanence light went on around the 9000km mark -- this is under normal driving i.e. I never ventured to redline or rarely into VTEC range. But my next reminder, B 1, came on around 16000km -- this is under aggressive driving (reving to VTEC and redlining the engine periodically). I thought the 2006 oil change interval was 10000km? To me it looks like the computer keeps a record of my driving habits and is adjusting it's maintaince reminder? Anybody know if this is the case?

I am looking at swaping motors sometime soon. My Question is, Will a LS1 Motor Fit into a 1991 Hond Civic Lx? My 2nd question is how hard would it be to swap?

The car cranks...but wont start...I thought it might be a fuel or spark issue...but the car wont even shift out of park. I put the key in, held the brake down and nothing!

I noticed that below the steering wheel, theres a little slot with a light that used to light green, it wasnt lit today. It looks like one of those starguard antitheft thingies (where you need to pop the chip in before you can even start it) but when we bought the car, we were never given the chip or anything...and the light's always been green.

Its a 2000 honda civic dx, I'm not sure how for 2, almost 3 years we've been able to drive it sans chip...any ideas?

im really thinking about the honda fit, even though i cant go see one physically because none of the dealers have them in stock. but it really looks like the best out of the pack of 5 main subcompacts available in the US. i just spent 4 months in europe without stepping into a car once. =)
but i really love how almost every car there is a subcompact. small and efficient is the way to go. you have to, because its so hard to find parking in europe and the streets are small. besides, no one really needs all that extra weight that cars in america have.
if you need storage space, the honda fit's seats fold down allowing you to store up to 8' long objects. reviews say it does everything a medium sedan does, but its smaller and more economical. its roomy. wish i could go see one.
but i was just wondering when the 2008s are coming.

The front wheel of my 1988 Honda Accord on the passenger side axle makes a very loud sounding metal scratch noise when I drive slow and make turns. I was told that its not so important and that I dont need to replace right away (since because lack of money it was not top priority), but eventually I will have to replace. It has been almost a year since the noise began. Now I will have to replace both front tires because its balding and replace/fix my both my front axle and one of my upper ball joints in the front also. The whole cost will be worth about $500 to $700. What will the results be if I just keep on driving without fixing both axles and the upper ball joint on the driver side? How much longer can I drive my car with out fixing that particular problem? Just a couple of weeks ago I had to replace new batteries and new alternator, cost me about almost $400! I may even have transmission problems! Is it worth it to fix it all? How much will I get for it if I sold as is?

I have a 99 honda prelude with 140k and i treat it like my baby never rag it or curb check it but just recently as i was driving to work on the freeway i was going about 70 mph and i started to feel a vibration on the gas pedal when i pressed it at those speeds and on my steering wheel too, it sounded like a clunkin noise but when i slowed down below like 60 it just stoped its weird because theres times it doesent do it at all. At first i though it was the cv joints but people tell me those you usualy you hear when you turn and if you did they would make noise all the time. A mechanic told me that it could be the engine mounts but im wondering if it could be something else other than the mounts or tires. its starting to get worse on the freeway when i hit those speeds and its weird because it only does it when i step on the gas at like 60 or 70 when i let go it stops. Does any one with a mechanic background might know whats going on with my car with what i explained?and any suggestions

I don't know much on this topic so maybe this will help. I have a 95 civic DX SOHC, its got the d series motor, non-VTEC... and i have a 93 Integra LS motor DOHC, i think its a B18A1, also non-VTEC sitting that a buddy is selling. Is this motor swap possible? I know the clutch on my car is hydralic and on the integra its cable, does that pose a problem? Any information or help on where to find info. on this subject would be greatly appreciated. thanx --T.Toben

I found the cost of the IMA battery to be $4500-$6000 to replace. There is also a small engine battery which is about $100 to replace. My question now is does anyone know the history of the IMA batteries needing replaced?
