the real truth is if you have an engine knock you can then try a higher octaine but other than a motor company recomending you use higher gas because of the valves on the vehicle like a corvette premium is just a waist of money.

No.. not unless you really want to spend the extra money.
Check in the filler door on in the owners manual and it should tell you what octane and ROZ you should use. Cant imagine an Accord LX needing premium.
I have a 2000 Dodge Dakota with a 3.9 liter V-6.. It said Regular and if I put premium in it, it ran worse.
Go with what the manufacturer suggest, that is what they designed it for.

premium will cost you more at the pump and in most cases with a car that is designed for regular, reduce your gas mileage. higher octane means less heat energy, so you have to burn more to get the same result. cars that specify premium have higher compression ratios, so they need premium to reduce the possibility of detonation and engine damage. people think that premium means better quality, in most cases it doesn't.

No, your car is not used to the higher octane, There is a myth that was confirmed if you put a few moth balls in your gas tank it will have a higher octane.

I wouldn't. It's a waste of money.
the only time you really need premium is if you have a performance car, ie camero, anything with a turbo or supercharger.

Nope, your car isn't built to use the higher octane - it will just waste out of the tailpipe.
