im really thinking about the honda fit, even though i cant go see one physically because none of the dealers have them in stock. but it really looks like the best out of the pack of 5 main subcompacts available in the US. i just spent 4 months in europe without stepping into a car once. =)
but i really love how almost every car there is a subcompact. small and efficient is the way to go. you have to, because its so hard to find parking in europe and the streets are small. besides, no one really needs all that extra weight that cars in america have.
if you need storage space, the honda fit's seats fold down allowing you to store up to 8' long objects. reviews say it does everything a medium sedan does, but its smaller and more economical. its roomy. wish i could go see one.
but i was just wondering when the 2008s are coming.

oh september? i wonder why the autoshow is in february then, and why it will just show 2007 models if theyve been out for 5 months.

Typically, new cars for the upcoming year come out in October of the previous year. Thus, 2008 cars will come out in October of 2007.
However, some dealerships have rolled them out on occasion, sooner, i.e., July of 2007 might bring out a 2008.
You have to be cautious buying a car too early in the year. Usually, the manufacturer makes them in different times; an example is that I owned a 1996 Chrysler Le Baron, but it was manufactured in May, 1996, not after May, 1996. This meant it was really, when it came to getting parts, a 1995. So, verifying what you are getting is important...

Good on you, mate. The more people that swap their monsta sized SUVs and get a decent compact, the better. But in the USA? - hmm, I dont see it happpening without something forcing their hands. Also consider the Toyota Yaris, it will be available as a hybrid next year. Honda Fit (aka City) may also be a hybrid option soon. Even more fun? A stepthru scooter!
