My problem is intermittent and unpredictable failure to shift from 3rd to 4th gear. The transmission is an automatic. I would also like to know where the other related sensors are located: coolant temperature sensor, transmission temp sensor, and the vehicle speed sensor. Thank you very much.

95 dodge avenger 2.5L V6 A/T. Is there any way to test a wheel speed sensor without taking it to the dealer or repair shop? It's an electronic sensor, so I guess that it's gotta be a way to test it or just looking at it to know if it's good or bad.
Many engine sensors you can but how do you test a wheel speed sensor?

1) Does on board computer have a registry or contain a file(s) that keep the history of programming changes, so that if the software was altered and then returned back to its original state that this could be deleted by diagnostic equipment?

2) Can diagnostic equipment detect software changes?

when driving on 2wd I stat hearing gear noise coming from the front wheels, found out that when I engage 4wd noise stops and never comes back, only on 2wd. It seems the 4wd is trying to engage on its own.

I'm trying to change the O2 sensor on this van. How do I do that? Oh ya, I disconnected the plastic tube that connects from the engine to the filter box and capped it with my socks. It gets better air stick out alone.

I have a 2005 Dodge Stratus 2.7 SXT 4 door. Over the past 2 months I have had an issue with the carpet under the passenger seat wet. It was sopping wet. I cleaned it up with a wet dry vac and got it all dry and two days later it was soaked again. I put a Absorber under the seat for 2 days and got it up. But it is still damp. Wet to touch the carpet and the metal under it. It is not soaked just damp now. I have the seat out of the car trying to see I something was draining but I have no idea what could be doing this. Any ideas what it is and how to fix it? I have a moldy smelling car and need to get it completely dry. Thanks in advance...

How do I make it so that I am aware if I am being ripped off by the car dealers or not?

It has a 318 engine 4 wd and a 2 barrel carbarater. The problem is the engine dies when warm and willl not start but if you wait 45 minutes to an hour it will start. The only thing I can think of is it might be the coil ballaster, ignition module or the coil and I do not think it is the coil.

I have a 69' Charger with a 383, New edelbrock carb and intake, slitely modified stock heads, headers, and dual exhaust. My problem is that when I go give it some gas, it always "coughs" up through the carb. When I say cough I mean that when I give it gas, a small amount of oil and crap come back up through the carb, into the air cleaner. On occasion this is so violent that it causes the engine to stall. What could be causing this? I have put a smaller carb than I had on the car originally (750cfm to 600cfm), and that helped a little, but not too much. I have heard that it could be weak spark or something of that nature, which could also be linked to its unlikelyhood of starting on cold mornings. Any input on this matter would be greatly appreciated. Thanks so much!!!

Ive got a 1999 ram 1500 quad cab with a 5.2l 318 engine. I normaly run regular unleaded fuel, I've installed a K&N air filter, quaker state synthetic oil, double platumin autolite plugs, and the napa belden silcone wires, I've also enlarged the tires to LT265-75r16 using the factory rims. on the highway i get on average (with the a/c OFF) about 13 to 14 mpg. If I turn ON the A/C, forget it, it drinks fuel like a can of beer! what else can i do to get better mileage?

Was there ever a memo sent out about valve cover replacement for the Dodge Caravan (1999)?? I was talking with someone about the minor oil smoke (From tail pipe) that the 3.3L V6 seems to develope over time....He said that he had received some memo that said the valve covers were to close to the valves and because of this, the PCV valve would suck oil and cause the smoke problem.....Replacing them with a new modified valve cover set would solve the problem....It doesn't sound right.......I always thought it was a Valve/Ring issue. Not a PCV.......Did anyone out there ever hear about this???
