if the lights on the dash dim down really bad when you turn the key over you either have a dead battery or a bad connection, try having the car jump started ,add if that doesn't work i would think you have a bad starter or a really bad connection somewhere on it,it could be the starter causing all of this though, but try jump starting it,see if it starts then, that should help narrow it down some, good luck with it.

I own a shop and will try to help you. Turn on the ignition switch, test for power at the starter, and at the coil. There should be power at both places. When you jump across the big wire to the little wire you are bypassing the start side of the switch. If it starts there, then when you remove the jumper (screw driver) from it, it stalls. This means you are loosing the 12 volt supply to the run side of the switch. One wire is to activate the solonoid, and the other is to keep it running when the power falls off. Do you have these wires crossed? The one to the inside (closest to the motor) should have power "only" when you turn the key to the start mode. The other should have power on it all the time, when the switch is in the on position. If these are crossed it will act just as yours is doing. If you don't have power to the coil with the switch on, then there is a problem with a fuse somewhere between the switch and the coil, or a bad neutral safety switch, or a bad wire. The + cable comes to the starter, and another wire is hooked in the same place that supplies the ignition switch. Turn on the switch, and it supplies the coil. Turn it to start, and it supplies power to the wire closest to the engine on the solonoid to crank the engine. Find the one that doesn't have power when it should, and trace it back to the switch. You should find the problem by doing this. Glad to help you, good luck!!!

A few possibilities, the battery cables are loose and there is just enough power going through the cables to turn on the lights and radio, or an important wire fell out of one of the cables, also it could be the starter but i would check the cables first, one other possibility could be the ignition switch hope the info helps fix the car.

Your neutral safety switch could be bad, turn the key to the run position and pull the shift lever into neutral position and try starting the engine. The neutral safety switch is a small part on the transmission.

This doesn't mean your battery has enough juice to start your car. But you also might have a bad starter. Try jumping it off and if it doesnt help change the starter.

all the guys above me are right, they have also had some problems with the controllers on those. i would get it checked before you start throwing parts at it. they have a body control module that could be bad or the main power train control module or maybe both. that is probably the worst case scenario. good luck

YOU SHOULD GET THE VEHICLES COMPUTER SCANNED AND CHECK FOR ANY PROBLEMS AS WELL AS CODES AND THEN YOU WILL HAVE A GOOD IDEA ON WHAT THE PROBLEM TRULY IS.

TRY FINDING AN INDEPENDENT SHOP INSTEAD OF THE DEALER OR A CHAIN STORE BECAUSE YOU WILL BE OVERALL MORE PLEASED WITH THE FINDINGS AND THE SERVICE.

LEAVE IT THERE WITH THEM SO THAT THEY CAN FIND THE PROBLEM FOR YOU, IT WILL BE A LOT BETTER THAN JUST REPLACING PART AFTER PART AND NOT DOING ANY GOOD.
