I tried installing myself a factory stereo from a 2001 Jeep Cherokee into my 2000 Jeep Wrangler but it didn't work. The plugs all matched up, but the system never came on. Also, when I plugged in the large grey plug into the back it started making a clicking noise, similar to the sound of a blinker. Can anyone give me info. about this? Thanks!

Does one HAVE to install GM Factory Integration Adapter when installing an aftermarket stere on a 2003 Monte Carlo. I was informed of this when trying to install a new stereo, and was informed that if it is not installed with the new stereo some features such as alerts will not work anymore. This adapter is expensive around $100 and I was just wondering if the adapter has to be installed or if there are any alternatives or if just not installing one would affect the car negatively?

I have a 2002 chevy malibu. and i recently brought a used rds radio from another malibu. But when the battery is off the radio works, when its hooked up it locks. And somebody told me you have to unhook the radio then try to get 2 sets of 3 digit codes but how can i, if the radio doesn't lock when disconnected. And Chevy wants to charge me $85-$130 to fix. I know its a simple problem. i just don't know what to do.

I have a kicker zx300.1 mono sub woofer amplifier. It puts out 300 watts RMS at 2ohms. I have two kicker comp C 12" (rated 150 watts each) subs in a ported box in my trunk. The amp is mounted to the box and is powering the two subs wired parallel to them. I listened to the subs at a moderate volume all the way home from school today which was about 15 minutes. I had the gain set at about 65%. Everything worked fine but when I got out of my car to view my subs I touched the amp and it was a little too warm to touch. I could keep my hand on it for a few seconds before it was too hot to touch anymore. Also it was about 90 degrees F outside today maybe that was part of the reason. Anyway, I was just wondering if its normal for an amp like this to get warm. I'm probably being too cautious and all but I feel its better to be safe than sorry when dealing with expensive electronics like this.

If a capacitor discharges and regulates the voltage on a low bass note, after the charge is gone (less than 1 second) how does it help an electrical system already strained to the point of dimming the lights? Does it try to suck more power from the already diminished charging system, if so how does this help? Isn't it like borrowing $400 only to pay it back out of your next paycheck and then having to borrow it again?

I live in Phoenix AZ, USA, where the ground is in the city is flat driving. Sometimes the AM gets distortion and sometimes it is clear, but only on certain channels.

The dealer replaced the antenna but that didn't help. The dealer says other Prius owners haven't said anything about whether they have the same problem or not.

Any ideas on what might be wrong and how to fix it?

My door speaker cuts out when the mounting screws are installed. I mounted it with tie wraps so it doesnt touch bare metal. Is my speaker bown or am I in danger of shorting my stereo? Its just the right front on 98 dakota PU. I thought it was the factory radio so I bought a sony replacement. It did the same thing to the rt frt speaker so I removed it to see if it was blown. As I re-screwed it to the door, I noticed it started cutting out again as soon as the screw touched bare metal and the metal speaker mount. I hooked it in w/ plastic tie wraps so its playing fine. I want to know if anyone knows if that behaviour means I have a short or if the current setup can blow my stereo. Thanks in advance for any help

has anyone every had a powerful subwoffer setup in your car that makes the car rattle when listing to music and make ya ears ring afterwards? well i have 2 10" subs that makes deep bass, problem is, all that loud bass is getting old to me and it drowns out the quality in the music. well all im saying is, if you plan on getting subs, at first you gon be beating down the block and after awhile you gonna start getting bored with loud bass. well i am though. i just took the subs out my trunk. boy dint i enjoy the tweeters and 8' factory sub for the first time since the installation of my subs. any replies? not saying i dont like loud bass but once u have had it in your car everyday, it becomes irrirtating with all that bass in your ears.
