kaezzo is right. doesnt that bother you stupid GM making trying to br impossible to customize stock audio system. Each time is more of a pain in the *** just to replace a stock radio like the one that have the chimmimg bell and some features connected to the radio. Why the hell do you want to connect car systems and security features to the radio sicne anyway thos stock units sucks.

The box in the trunk isn't a "decoder", it's the actual tuner and amplifier for the audio system. GM used very similar systems in the early 90's Sunbird, Grand Prix, Regal, and full-size pickups. All the power and speaker connections, as well as the only antenna connection, are located at the tuner/amp pack. You can pull the plugs out of the amp pack and connect them to a standard GM radio adapter harness like this one: http://www.audiooutfitter.com/store/73797/gm02b.html .

You'll have to extend all the wires, run them through the vehicle and connect them to your new head unit in the dash. You'll need to do the same thing with the antenna connection, using a GM antenna adapter: http://www.audiooutfitter.com/store/73841/gm6.html and an antenna extension cable: http://www.audiooutfitter.com/store/163097/axt144.html . The new head unit will fit in the dash with the proper size mounting kit: http://www.audiooutfitter.com/store/73835/gm1583b.html .

If the vehicle is equipped with a Bose system, and you want to keep the factory amplifiers and speakers working, you'll need an interface adapter: http://www.audiooutfitter.com/store/75730/oea4.html
