I have a ford fiesta 1.25, it has a 12v battery. I just want a nice basic install around 12'' sub not to big - but big enough. I generally dont have a clue about all the technical issues like ohms and rms and stuff like that!!! but have a basic knowledge of electronics. And alot of you guys sound like real experts that i need a bit of advice from!. I am going to replace the door speakers and just asking if these would run easily off a headunit (kenwood probaly) or would they need to be connected to the amp. Also would 5'' component speakers be ok on their own or would i need additional speakers ie 6x9s on the rear shelf. Cheers guys!. ps i know this question is lacking alot of technical specifications like what size amp amp and what type of head unit but the i havent got that yet so just consider everything to be avarage i.e not to big not to small.

The sound is comes at random times and places. There's like four or five beeps a short burst of static and a beep again. Always the same sequence and it only last about 4 or 5 seconds. It's a stock 97 honda accord stereo. It started about 2 years ago and happens randomly. I thought the radio was just getting old, but then I heard on my baby mointer the other day. Also, I'm not crazy, because other people riding in my car have heard it.

I bought wiring harness to connect my insignia IN- MP101 stereo. This wiring harness goes into the car adapter but the other end i have to splice with the stereo wires (since stereo adapter is not compatible with the wiring harness I bought) after connecting when i remove faceplate of stereo one red LED glows. When i replace faceplate nothing works and unit does not power on. Can anybody tell that if its wiring fault or the stereo is bad.

Additional Details
I took it apart yesterday. It is the old kind that has the two knobs that come through the plastic. The whole dash trim comes off in one piece & you have to take the radio knobs off first. The only parts of the radio that show through the plastic are the knobs & the tuner screen. Threrefore it does not have a regular opening at all. When I use one of the radio match sites it doesn't find any matches. I will have to cut the plastic out. I wasn't sure if I wanted to mess up the original look, now I'm really not sure.
What I did not mention before is this truck is 23 years old and is in great original condition. It was garage kept for at least 22 of those years untill I bought it. The one other owner is a coworker of mine & he took very good care of it, to the point I think he cryed when he sold it. Yes I am 25 years old driving a truck almost as old as I am. Bought with cash - Oh Yah

I'm leaning towards the Alpine because of its great Ipod interface. But the Pioneer looks so much better. Which is better in sound quality, and overall?

Also, should I even consider Dual in comparison to these?

i got some different speakers for my car, my head deck is 50x4 and i got speakers that are 50 rms which was more than i needed, when i tried my new ones it doesnt seem to be a whole lot louder than the old speakers but it is louder, and i do get more bass but it gets distorted when louder. i tried to play with the cd deck settings and when it gets tuned for one song its bad for another and sometimes then the setting dont help as much, i have to turn the radio to max just so its somwhat loud, i think it may be that i used 16 gauge wire to go from the deck to the speakers, im not sure but what would hte problem be?

I am going to have 4 nonfactory amps and one factory amp in the car. I now use a switch to turn the radio on and off and have two other switches to turn on the amps I have in the car so I don't have to kill my ears all the time I want to turn it up. I wired it up so the amps still will not turn with out the radio being on. How and why would I hook up a relay? I have the factory amp on the front speakers, one on the back, one on the 12" and one for the 2 10" and have one more amp that I am going to put in so the 10"s have here own amps. You can see in my pic that I made a fiberglass box that replaces the back seat. and does that set up mean that I have a WALL in spl comp rules?

Doubt anyone would know, but I re-installed two front speakers and my sub a few days back. All wires were alreadyr an. However, since then, my wipers and AC doesnt work properly. Sometimes theyll work, most times not, so its not the fuse. Does anyone have an idea if it was something Ive done to cause this???

Hey guys, I have 4 Kenwoods in my car, I beleive are rated at 125 max/40rms.....I have an old 600 watt jensen amp (given to me) that was pushing a 12" sub, and working great. Im planning on buying a new amp/sub hook up, so I tried to connect the jensen to the four speakers inside. I tested the amp to the two rear speakers, but it doesnt sound right. Sometimes I hear a buzzing noise constantly as the rca is plugged in, and then sometimes the noise is gone, but the speakers begin to crack when I turn them up. Im not sure of the wattage of the amp, but its 600 max 4 channel amp. Does it just not work with the speakers? Or am I doing something wrong?

Also, if I can just get the front speakers to work with the amp, Ill just connect two speakers plus the amp. Thanks, and please help.

I've always had 2 volt alpines, i am thinking of giving a 4 volt version a try, but it does cost more, is it worth it? I really like the display on the 4 volt version, but i cant bring myself to spend a extra $100 buks for that alone, the only other major dif i see is the 4v vs 2v.

I don't know much about stereos. But i do know that i want one where i can avoid using CD's again. Somebody mentioned that they had 100's+ tracks on some memory chip/stick? Is that what the USB business is?! As i said no idea about technology!

Anyway straight to the point.. I want a stereo where i can listen to all the tracks i download (I have over 500+)

Anyone know of any sites/links where i can find a suitable one?

Budget: up to £150

I've discovered some dishonesty amongst us. I have been informed by a very reliable source that Electhro # 3 Top 10 (A.K.A. Dammm) has been cheating by giving himself two votes on every answer just to bring his rank up.

His double identity was proven a few weeks back when Dammm put the "10 Years of Xperience Electrical Engineer" as his signature then later removed it.

I will re-post this from time to time to make everyone aware of this phony.

I'm considering hooking up an amp with 2 alpine 12's, but I do not have an alarm on the car, so I'd like to keep the factory stereo in.

I know it can be done, I bought the adapter already, but my question is, will it sound horrible if I have an amp hooked up to the factory stereo? I mean the factory stereo plays pretty clear and has good clarity in bass and everything.....

What I mean by "decent" is that it can produce the right amount of bass and clear, crisp sound without making your ears bleed.
