What I mean by "decent" is that it can produce the right amount of bass and clear, crisp sound without making your ears bleed.

It is all up to you. Whatever you can afford and the level of sound that you want. For me, the factory set up is fine. A good place to start is with a medium priced subwoofer and see if you require more to please you. good luck

Like most things in life, it is easy to over pay for a Stereo system, spending on things that may never be appreciated. Just by the nature of your question, I would say you are an audio novice and may be happy without spending a load.

So, my first recommendation is to first upgrade your speakers. There is no need to spend more that $100 a pair, plus installation. Buying online, you'll save a lot on speakers if you can do the install yourself. This is not difficult it you first take some time to study how the factory ones are mounted.

You should notice a significant difference over the factory speakers, which in my experience usually sound ok for the first year or so and seem to degrade a bit, but that's just my experience.

If you're happy with this, just stop and enjoy it!

But, you may also be interested in upgrading the in-dash unit (the head) to CD, MP3 or satellite reception. Usually a decent head unit will start around $125. Will this please an "audiophile?"...Probably not, but most folks I've known are pretty happy with this setup.

Well, I hope this is enough to get you started or a nice set up to at least learn what you prefer for any future upgrades.

Best of Luck.

I'd do an Ipod, a 12" sub in a sealed box powered by a 250watt rms amp.

Have Fun!
