The sound is comes at random times and places. There's like four or five beeps a short burst of static and a beep again. Always the same sequence and it only last about 4 or 5 seconds. It's a stock 97 honda accord stereo. It started about 2 years ago and happens randomly. I thought the radio was just getting old, but then I heard on my baby mointer the other day. Also, I'm not crazy, because other people riding in my car have heard it.

It is someone's mobile phone signal. They don't have to be in the car with you, only in the vacinity. The same with other electronic equipment lillke the baby monitor. Perhaps somebody driving down your road was talking on their mobile. It happens often on my car radio too. Some radios pick it up, others don't. Hope this ansers the question for you.

Have you checked to see if someone isn't trapped under your bonnet!

Sorry couldn't resist, the previous answer sounds correct, it happens when your mobile phone connects to a land base to let it know where to send the signal if a call is sent to it. You usually hear the same interference just before the phone rings.
