If your aftermarket unit doesn't support the dimmer function, then simply dont'use the wire but make sure to cut it , and tape it , dont leave the bare metal of the wire expose to any surface of the car to avoid damaging the dimmer.

It's kind of hard to answer without more details, but I'll try the best assuming you have bought a wiring harness to install an aftermarket stereo. Most cars have a dimmer wire running to the factory stereo to make the lights on it get dimmer to match the instrument lights when your driving and headlights are turned on. The dimmer wire on an aftermarket wiring harness tells your aftermarket stereo to not be as bright, or dim, when the driving and headlights are turned on. Some aftermarket stereos do not have a dimmer wire to hook up, because they just don't come with that option. So if your harness has a dimmer wire and your stereo does not, simply tape or cap off the dimmer wire on the harness so it won't ground out and cause any blown fuses. By the way, usually more expensive stereos have a dimmer option. Hope this helps.

You don't need to use it; if there's no orange or orange/white wire on your new radio, just tape the harness' dimmer wire off so it won't short out on anything.
