Some of the older Sirius satellite receivers had pretty powerful built-in FM modulators. (The FM modulator converts the satellite radio audio to FM so that the user can listen to satellite radio through his FM radio). We had an old Sirius "Starmate" unit set up in our shop, and under certain conditions I could hear it on my car radio's FM tuner while I was 50-70 yards away.

It's possible that you were just driving near someone else who has an FM-modulated satellite radio receiver in his car. It's not possible to receive satellite radio on your FM car radio without a separate satellite radio tuner and FM modulator.

The newest satellite radio tuners have a much less powerful FM output, because the FCC cracked down on them.

You need to have a satelite receiver, because the frequency and the signal transmission technics used by satelites are more advanced than a FM/AM

What you heard became pirate radio. I even have Sirius satellite tv for pc radio and Howard Stern became interviewing Scott Baio right this moment. So somebody is illegally rebroadcasting the present satellite tv for pc radio pass. this is impossible to p.c.. up satellite tv for pc radio with an FM tuner.

No, you need a separate receiver or antennae in order to pick up Sat Radio signals. I would wait to purchase it because I heard that Sirius and XM might be merging
