I'm leaning towards the Alpine because of its great Ipod interface. But the Pioneer looks so much better. Which is better in sound quality, and overall?

Also, should I even consider Dual in comparison to these?

I am a big pioneer fan. Dual should not be considered, its junk. But its really up to you on what you think sounds better and what you need. And you realy should not try to use a ipod when driving any way its like trying to watch tv and drive

I've installed hundreds, if not thousands, of Pioneer head units. The times I've seen the problem Javin is describing can be counted on one hand. In my experience installing both brands, I don't believe that Alpine has a sound quality advantage over Pioneer.

The Pioneer DEH-P4900IB has a new i-Pod interface, and uses a direct-connect iPod cable like the Alpine. Have a store demo the new Pioneer iPod connector for you before you make your decision.

Forget Pioneer and Dual.

75% of ALL Pioneer/Premier CD players have bad grounding planes on their RCA outputs. Meaning, they introduce engine/alternator noise to the external amps. It can be fixed, but you are choosing between this and Alpine.

Alpine is WAY above Pioneer and Dual in sound quality.
Pioneer and Dual do not even compare to Alpine in reliability.

-I own an Alpine. I've had nothing BUT problems w/ Pioneer. Don't even consider Dual.

Good Luck!

the alpine will have far superior sound quality and will play louder than the pioneer will.
