Original Equipment Manufacture It does not mean made by the same people that made the car. It means made by the same people that made THAT part for the car manufacture. Car manufacures source a lot of parts to smaller suppliers. Batteries, tires, light bulbs, wheels. All parts made by different companies for the final car assembly. That means its the same company that the factory used when making the car. Car company buys certain tire from company A for use in a new car. (Since no car manufacture makes their own tires). You can buy the same tire from company A and that makes company A the OEM.
