Buying & Selling - March 2007

I see the commercials all the time and i was just wondering. I went on their website and their cars seem kind of high priced to me. They had a 1998 Ford Econoline 150 van for $10,000 bucks! $10,000 bucks for a car that's almost 10 years old? Are they nuts?

I want to sell my car in the next couple of months. But I'm a little confused as to how I'm to go about doing that.

The plan was to sell my car and use the money from that to put down a big down payment on a new car. So I decided to shop around first and see if anyone would finance me.

Well, I should have figured no one would. I'm 21, living in an apartment, little credit, (even though the little is very good!), I JUST moved to a new state just 2 weeks ago, and I don't have a cosigner.

So, a dealer told me to wait a few months (5) and then to come back once I have some stability to prove. Fair enough, at least he was being honest with me unlike the others.

Question is, do I sell my car first and take a chance on not getting a car right away? Or try and get a car with a smaller down payment and then selling my car?

I have a 2006 Mazda6 and want to sell it and possibly trade it in for a cheaper car at a different dealership. Do dealerhips buy new cars (I know they can pay the trade-in value for what it's worth) not even for a trade? Or could I purchase a cheaper car and they pay the difference?

are we still responsible for the whole amount owed, or just the past due amount??

I have paid regularly for my car for the past 2 years but no longer need a car following a change of address. I will be leaving the country soon and the car company will not let me ship the car out. Selling it would mean a loss as I'd still owe the finance company. I could try and sell it privately but what's the chance of getting $17k+ privately? My sister in law is willing to take over responsibility for the car. Is this a possibility.

Looking to get a car to restore and we found one we think like which we think can get at a fairly cheap price. We are going to ask for it at $300 and see what the guy says.

*Car is on its 3rd engine, which has about 40K on it & hasn't been running for the past year.

*The floor is all rusted out and needs replacing.

*Some minor hail damage.

I have a car but its not exactly what i always wanted and i want to trade it in but people tell me to be careful not to end up "upside down" whatever that means? So whens a good time to trade it in. I still owe $7200 on an $11,000 car.

I watched the documentary "Who killed the electric car" the other day. I'm not sure what really happened, nor do I care about much except the fact that I really really want an electric car. Do they even sell a single one anymore?

i used own a Ford truck which was destroyed in Fire. I don't have the vehicle anymore. But i still have the title for it. Since my insurance didn't pay me anything for the damage and ford didn't make a recall at that point on my vehicle, I'm trying to recoup any possible way I can. Any suggestion helps.

I'm selling my car and this young ladie is asking about taking over payments. She said she would basically give me 3k cash, then we would sign something (like a sub lease contract), and she would put the monthly payments in my bank account. Is there other ways making this work out? Or is the idea or way she's talking about good or bad? Need help because i'm desperate trying to sell my car. Anything would help, Thanks.

I have six Rottweiler dogs and am debating between the Toyota Matrix, the Honda Fit, the Kia Rondo and a scion (although I hate the looks of the scion). MPG is important as I am very concerned with global warming, hence these four wagons...
anyone own any of these? Can you tell me anything useful?
Can anyone give me their opinion on which out of the 4 is best? At the moment it looks like the matrix or the fit but I can be swayed.
