Did you ever hang onto a car for so many miles that you were amazed it was still going? How many was that and how did you know when to get rid of it?

I had a friend with a Chevy that had about 130,000 on it. Its engine and body was OK but the brake lines under the car were rusting out. he used it for a trade in on a new car from a dealer that just wanted to know if it was still running. He had a tow truck drag it to the vicinity of the car dealer and he slowly drove it the last block and coasted to a stop in their lot to meet that requirement.

I am currently financing a BMW.

I would like to sell the car, so I could get something cheaper.

Since I am currently financing the car, and if I sell it privately how would this be possible?

The title is held at BMW Financial, so if a person were to give me a cashiers check for the car, they would want to take delivery immediately?

Since I would have to send the payoff to BMW, they would not be able to take delivery until I received the title?

are you looking at the mpg more now than you did a few years ago? What is the lowest mpg you would be willing to accept in a new car today? Thanks!

I'm looking into buying an SUV soon. I'm looking at used vehicles in the $10,000 and below range. I have a truck right now and it's just too big for me. I'm looking into Chevy Blazers, Toyota 4Runners, Ford Explorers(except for that whole rolling thing), or Izuzu Rodeos. Which of these would you say performs the best, gets nice gas mileage, and is well-priced?

At what point do I stop looking for a "better deal"? Found a 1995 Dodge Ram 1500 SLT, ext cab, tow pkg, bed cover, loaded, one owner, all maintenance records, fanatically maintained, recent new tranny, many items replaced, looks NEW in/out... 167k miles, $4250 (high side of average book value). Found another, 1998, lower miles, more owners (3), no real maintenance history/knowledge, $3700.00. Last week still another, 180k miles, 1994, $350.00 This has been going on for weeks. Prices seem all over the map around here. What's the biggest thing to look at? Is the one owner the winner? Or do you go for lower mileage?

I'm going crazy trying to decide. All test drive fine, but when I get real serious I'll pay 4 a mechanic to look it over & run diagnostics & ?? I obviously can't do that w/every truck in the running! $4400 is all I've got and it has to be well spent... I cannot afford major repairs soon after purchase. I need reliability above all else.

Thoughts? Thanks

The ones in my price range tend to have 70,000 to 90,000 miles. Is that to many miles to be purchasing a diesel?

I have a car that I financed with a company only to find out that the company has gone bankrupt. I want to trade that car in on another one with another finance company but I am as they say "upside" down and locked in with the company that has gone bankrupt. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to remove myself from this company without ruining my credit?

My friend and I are moving to Florida, I already have a car, but my friend needs one too. We were thinking we could drive mine when we need too (for bad weather, groceries, etc) and get a crotch rocket (the insurance is good, gas is cheap, for cruising). Our other option is getting 2 cars-- the problem there is insurance....the insurance on my car in around 400-440 because I'm 18, it's a convertible and a GT. We were planning on splitting the cost between us to make it more affordable.

So here it is:

1 car, 1 crotch rocket ?
or
2 cars, lots of insurance?

After work I am going to my local dealership. I plan to buy a Pontiac Vibe. The test drive went very well, but that's only 15 minutes of driving a vehicle that I plan to have for a long time. What are your reviews on the Vibe? Likes? Dislikes? Personal experiences? Thank you :)

I live in GA,Recently i been trying to buy a car, and i noticed that this car is way cheaper then any other car, and it had like 50,000 Miles on it!! it was for the price of a 150,000+ Miles car. the person who sells it tells me that the car runs good, and thru SquareTrade we do business, and if i dont like the car as described i can return it in 3 days, have any of yall heard about this website and this kind of deal and about SquareTrade. the perosn just told me he really needs the mone now because he went thru this surgery, and is trying to sell as fast as possible. Oh also he said the car hasnt been thru any severe weather. so im wondering.. and now hes selling the car from FL. he said he just been up in Illinois several times but kept the car in the garage. the car is a 2000 model
