I'm looking into buying an SUV soon. I'm looking at used vehicles in the $10,000 and below range. I have a truck right now and it's just too big for me. I'm looking into Chevy Blazers, Toyota 4Runners, Ford Explorers(except for that whole rolling thing), or Izuzu Rodeos. Which of these would you say performs the best, gets nice gas mileage, and is well-priced?

The chevy will possilby be the cheapest, as it'll depreciate the fastest. But it's smaller and cheaper.
The Toyota will probably be the most expensive, but has great reliability. I HIGHLY recommend you try the Toyota for more than a 5 minute test drive - they have an odd seating position that I despise and find very uncomfortable. Check it out for yourself.
The Ford would be the best choice overall. Roomy, comfortable, refined, reliable. I wouldn't think twice about the rollover thing. That was a tire issue, so maybe look up online the year(s) affected and just make sure any you're looking at have newer tires!
The Isuzu? I'd stay away from. Gas guzzlers, not always reliable, and not refined from a company that MAY not stay in the US market for more than a year or 2 more.

If you want something reliable, go with the Toyota. Blazers are probably the most unreliable vehicle on the road. Explorers are better but not great. Ditto for the Isuzu.

The "rolling thing" with the Explorer was due to improper tire selection and maintenance, not a specific design defect. However, any SUV will roll of pushed past its limits. An SUV is far more likely to roll than a sedan or minivan.

Fuel economy on the Blazer and Explorer is terrible. The Rodeo is slightly better, as is the 4-Runner. None of them get "nice" gas mileage, though. If you need decent fuel economy in an SUV, look at a Toyota RAV4, Honda CRV, or almost any Subaru.

Well to be frank.. i think toyota's r the best.. it's one company which has not made a flop car yet.. and if you talk about other cars then u can get a good list of all the flop cars.. but why don't u think of a honda.. it's also good or may be a land cruiser.

they all have pro's and con's. But overall the best choice of what you are considering is the ford explorer. Simply because of the repair cost and the reliability aspect. whichever you decide check for all "factory recalls"

Actually I have a Saturn Vue and love it.
I didn't get the AWD but I got the 6cylinder and it's got balls.
Great in the snow too.
