The ones in my price range tend to have 70,000 to 90,000 miles. Is that to many miles to be purchasing a diesel?

Diesels will last until atleast 300,000 miles w/o any significant maintenance.

It is true that mileage isn't really important to a diesel engine, but what you have to look at is how were those 70k to 90k miles were aquired. If the truck was used to pull camper to Louisana after Katrina then no the miles aren't a problem. On the other hand it the truck was used in construction pulling overloaded trailers and in/out of muddy construction sites and the like the miles will matter more. The point is, sometimes people buy diesel trucks just because, and other times they abuse them because they are diesel trucks. Try to contact the previous owner if possible and see how it was used.

That is low mileage for any diesel engine.... Ford is having a lot
of injector problems and turbo problems with their 6.0 Diesels.
The VGT Turbo ( Variable Geometry Turbo ) is having a lot of
problems.... make sure you get an extended warranty policy
that covers these engine problems... other than that they are nice trucks....

look diesel autos can resistt from 250000 miles to 400000 miles specialy powerstroke autos properly of course you ought to shop it very stable mantained and the engine in suitable difficulty yet once you have it in very undesirable difficulty the main you are able to assume is 200000 miles.

no buy it they last till about 250000 plus miles without alot of issues.
