Did you ever hang onto a car for so many miles that you were amazed it was still going? How many was that and how did you know when to get rid of it?

I had a friend with a Chevy that had about 130,000 on it. Its engine and body was OK but the brake lines under the car were rusting out. he used it for a trade in on a new car from a dealer that just wanted to know if it was still running. He had a tow truck drag it to the vicinity of the car dealer and he slowly drove it the last block and coasted to a stop in their lot to meet that requirement.

1977 Celica about 425000 miles on the odometer. Every part of it was rusted and there were holes everywhere from erosion, but it still started and drove without any issues. They sure dont make cars like that anymore.
