...the rhythm of the clunking goes faster each time I shift to a higher gear (5-speed std, '94 Accord LX Coupe). Sounds like it's coming from the front end.
It doesn't happen when I keep my foot off the gas, but it happens when I maintain or increase the gas during and or after turns.
Sounds almost exactly like my former broken engine mount, only happens more when I turn right and sometimes left (the engine mount clunked ONLY when I turned left before).
She's due for an oil change so I'll check the mounts when I'm down there, but what else could it be?
The thing that makes me doubt that it's the other engine mount is that the frequency of its hauntingly similar clunking noise was related to the engine rpm, and this present clunking noise relates directly to the car's speed.
Lots of shady mechanics around here. What knowledge can I bring to the shop? Help! Thanks!
