...the rhythm of the clunking goes faster each time I shift to a higher gear (5-speed std, '94 Accord LX Coupe). Sounds like it's coming from the front end.
It doesn't happen when I keep my foot off the gas, but it happens when I maintain or increase the gas during and or after turns.
Sounds almost exactly like my former broken engine mount, only happens more when I turn right and sometimes left (the engine mount clunked ONLY when I turned left before).
She's due for an oil change so I'll check the mounts when I'm down there, but what else could it be?
The thing that makes me doubt that it's the other engine mount is that the frequency of its hauntingly similar clunking noise was related to the engine rpm, and this present clunking noise relates directly to the car's speed.
Lots of shady mechanics around here. What knowledge can I bring to the shop? Help! Thanks!

C/V Joints or wheel bearings. (make sure you don't have loose wheel nuts, too) While your doing the C/V or wheel bearings check the brakes too.

Does it click or pop when you turn the wheels in one direction and back up?
Have you checked to see if you have any torn or leaking C/V boots?

If it is a bad wheel bearing it will growl most of the time, sometimes increase or decrease when turning corners, or coasting.

For the respond above. nicely particular ball-joints could make a clunk once you flow over a bump in the event that they're far long previous adequate. Now that actuality which you get the sound from the two the wonderful front and left front of the motor vehicle makes me think of if may be a motor or transmission mount. yet than you may hear the clunk once you enhance up as nicely. So maximum in all risk project is the sway bar bushings are worn. those might make the two facets clunk. Now for no longer getting the cluck mounted. And wait till the engine dies isn't counseled. The Toyota engines are reliable. it may desire to in all risk final yet another one hundred,000km. I in simple terms recommend you flow get the clunk clinically determined and are available ask us in case you quite need to repair what the restoration shop tells you needs changing for the motor vehicle to be risk-free.

I wanted to say c/v points... someone got ther before me... then you could have a transmission to mount problem, even a grinding point to the left of your axel!

if it's due a service get it in... before the problem gets worse, and cost you more!
