My ex-wife (as of 2005) failed to pay some tax in 2001 and we were penalized in 2003 and we paid it. Today (4-29-07) I recieved a penalty from the state of Georgia plus back tax from 2001 for Total - $1,040. The way I understand the paper is for state tax. The federal tax is the penalty we recieved in 2003. It appears to say we were supposed to notify the state within 180 days when we recieved a penalty from the federal tax and make an adjustment with them. Is this true can this happen? Am I correct the way I am reading this? Thanks.............

I guess I should state the true intent here, I am not trying to prove guilt or innocense. I want to know why is it that even though we have 132 million people who filed returns where is the returns? I mean our country has well over 300 million citizens right? So what says I have to pay or you or any other person for that matter if less than half of our country actualy files. To take this a step further, even if no one filed, I mean no one, excluding corporations, so this would include irs agents themselves, do you honestly belive they could or would waste their time to come after you for tax evasion. I highly doubt it. Mostly because they do not have the resources to come after an entire nation. It doesn't matter if we file they automaticaly get their money, it comes out of our pay whether we want it too or not. We also still pay into social security, yet I will never get a dime from it. So do you think they will stop taxing us for it.

I have a court child support paper that states "A dependency exemption shall be assigned to XXXX pursuant to the Idaho Child Support Guidelines. The child support obligation as stated above has been adjusted to provide for the pro rata payment of teh value of the exemption" What exactly does that mean? Do I get to claim my child on my taxes or does XXX get to claim him? If XXX gets to claim him even though XXX has only seen him one time in my child's life is there a way to change that so I get to claim my child on my taxes? Please help me understand. Thank you

Then how is it that we pay taxes on our incomes, purchases and things we own? Property owners pay taxes on the property they had bought. Then every quarter and every year they are required to pay school and property tax on the property that they own and then have to pay tax again on the sale of the property if they do not purchase new property with that money.

Why is it that only 61-65 million americans pay income taxes each year? Since that is the case, why is it that an entire town in ohio did not pay their taxes and nothing can or was done to those people. BTW, for those of you that quoted irs codes that is not law. it is a guid line. I want to know where is the law that shows that it is legal to tax a persons income, not their gains, or their dividends. If you could show the law and prove that it is the real law approved and rattified by congress, then you are the first person in this country. Read all of the laws associated with this, not just the ones you are told. Also, if that is the real law then prove it and Ed Brown has agreed to pay 1 million dollars to the person who can prove there is a real law that is in the constitution that says we must pay tax on out personal income. So smart people I tried to get my piece of that million bucks and failed. You try.
