I'm itemizing taxes this year for the first time. I'm looking for examples like...contributions to the church (tithing)...things that I normaly wouldn't think of. I'm married - 3 kids (in private school)own a home, no other unusual circumstances. Not self employeed and all income is salary/commissions (W2).

Thanks...Rob

Last year when I did my 2005 taxes the agent asked me if I paid for the expenses of another person and I told her no, because at the time I wasn't. but for '06 My income has supported the both of us, and i'm curious how does it work exactly, Can you claim someone as a dependant for one year? (since my boyfriend will have a job in '07. )

I will be moving to Texas in the next 3 weeks to go work, don't know how long I will be there. Will I have to pay Oklahoma on the money I make in Texas since Oklahoma has state tax and Texas doesn't???
P.S. I own property here in Oklahoma too. I don't think its fair if I have to pay tax on money I make in a different state...

I moved from Ohio to Florida lived in FL for almost 6yrs. then moved to Missouri. Lived in MO for 4yrs at which time I bought a house. I then started getting (by mail) letters from OH that I owed taxes for not filing a return. Now I'm getting phone calls from laywers collecting for the state of Ohio. Since FL does not have a state tax I e-stored my federal returns but did not keep my state since there was no need. I have searched to try and find the answer without any luck, unless I want to pay $100. How do I defend myself? Many thanks for a point in the right direction.

Will I need the w2 forms from all 5 of the employers I have made no less than $1,000.00 U.S. FUNDS from each job. ISo will I be at a greater risk of being audited? And if the tax stuff is mailed to me and gets lost in the mail how would I go about filing the return despite the missing information (my paycheck stubs are A.W.O.L.).

I amended my tax return to remove my son, and allow my husband to claim him. I did my taxes before consuling my husband & it turned out he would have gotten the bigger return. However, despite me amending mine he was not allowed to claim our son. We went through a lot of mess only to still be denied because of the "lack of evidence" showing that he was the primary financial provider. Long story ... I lost my tax return in the process. What can I do now? We are his parents, one of us should be allowed to claim him on that return & if not my husband than it should be me.

If people paid a flat rate then the ratio of tax paid would be fair to all. The more you make ---- it would still result in more taxes . Plus, many people cannot even itemize unless they have a high mortgage or other high payments.

It also would save many people the cost of even filing for a refund. If your employer withheld 10 percent during the year and that all the taxes required ---- there would be no expense on the part of a government agency or the taxpayer to file a tax return. What do you think ???

I never owe. I have always gptten like 1000 dollars back every year. But because I am behind on student payments, they always take it anyways. So for the past 2 years I haven't bothered. I want to file again but what are some repercussions of my past. I don't make that much anyways. I really am a small fish.
