My tax code has gone up and down over the last couple of years whilst I have been in employment here in England.
Does any one have experience of the best way of investigating if a possible refund is due.
What is the process in effectively asking the inland revenue to provide a statement proving that I have paid the correct level of income tax.
Answers would be appreciated from any other UK taxpayers who have paid their pound of flesh and would be wondering if they have overpaid.

Thank you in advance.

A woman on the helpline told me today that the disregarded income for tax credits has risen from £2500 to £25000. Is this true and if it is when did it happen?

I work 25 hours per week and am already claiming Working Text Credits. I am separated from my husband but he is paying the mortgage on the house as it is an investment for the children. Are there any other benefits I can claim.

Hi, for the past 7 months I have been getting taxed quite a lot on the tax code BRM1. I assumed it was emergency tax, but it has been the same now for too long. I was wondering if anyone knew what this tax code meant, and if anyone knew of a way I could somehow get the tax back? First serious job out of university so dont know a lot about this sort of thing.

Thanks

Suppose there are two shareholders of a company, and both agree that only one should receive a dividend. How can the other person correctly waive the dividend? Can anyone point me to something that provides more info on this?

I was informed last year that the uk national lottery doesn't use the internet and doesn't conduct lottery claims over the internet. The address of the E-mail I received is exactly the same except for one number in the address. with all the lottery scams going on I wrote the address given to me and explained my concerns. Do I dare trust this man Mercy Williams whom claims to be the uk fidciary claims agent (ukfiduciaryclaims1@yahoo.co.uk) the other name mentioned on the form is Sir Richard K Loyd, Co-ordinator. Please Help me with any info concerning these individuals and the lottery in which they say they represent. I've checked the Ripoff Report and found nothing on the names of these people or the return E-Mail address.

If I start a business selling cars but have no starting capital and get cars from people sale or return, should I have to pay VAT on the profit or is it just tax because it will be a commision?

I live in Australia and have paid solicitors, and estate agents a small fortune, so any VAT I can get back will be a bonus!
