If I employ someone to do service A for my company, and he and my company pay tax on that employment, could I then ask him to do a different but related service B and pay him as a self-employed person for that second service? Is he allowed to register as self-employed for providing such a service? Am I allowed to pay him gross? An answer with reference to the UK tax law would be much appreciated.

Dolphin therapy is effective for helping/healing autistic children, as well as downs syndrome and many other ailments. Does the Inland Revenue accept claims? Or is there any other financial help provided by the state?

I've recently been made redundant and have been granted lots of shares. The issue I have is that some are profit shares, some are Buy as you earn and some are Save as you earn scheme shares. I know my allowance of profit is £8800 for the year, but how much can I sell without the tax man querying my sale? Would it be safer to sell the allowance amount each year and stay safe?

I work at a University and we have some visiting researchers coming over for 4 x two weekly periods to engage in research. They will be being paid their salary by the company in France but I wanted to know whether we should tax them as according to my interpretation of Article 21 of the double taxation agreement, they should not pay tax in the UK. I would appreciate any guidance on this as I am not sure if we are following the correct procedure.

Thanks in advance.

It says you can apply for the grant if you are recieving child tax credit at a higher rate than the family element.
BUT surely everyone who gets child tax credit gets it at a highter rate than the family element because they also get a child element.

Can someone help explain this?

The property is a second property & in both mine & my wifes name. We would like to claim back the building costs to offset capital gains tax. Can we claim 100% of building costs and would we liable to tax on the share of the property that we retain. Should our names be on the deeds as joint owners?
