He has stayed in uk for the past 8 years on a student status. Since he is leaving for good the question of a benifit or some sort of compensation in old age is out of the question. So now can he claim soem if not all of the National insurance

He will not be able to claim any of it back, NI contributions finance the NHS, pensions etc. No doubt he will of benefited from these services at some point??

He cannot claim anything back. what he may be able to do is pay voluntary contributions to bring his record up to the level that would qualify for a state pension. Whether it is better to do that or invest in private retirement plans is another matter entirely.
